NEW HTA LAWS: Open visor/ One hand handlebars

Re the visor, IIRC that some states that do not mandate helmets do mandate eye protection with OSHA approved safety glasses.

Florida is such a state; no helmet needed, just some form of eye protection. The irony is that you can get a ticket if you have a full face helmet on with the visor open and no eye protection (glasses or shades).

will they charge drivers for driving with one hand on the wheel?

So if my visor fogs up during the winter I can't lift my visor up or even give it a peek in fear I'll be charged with stunting?

If drivers can see my clear visor as a distraction than awesome! At least they see me

correction - if you have proof of PRIVATE health insurance you can ride without a lid. Otherwise you need a bucket on yer noggin.

There is no such laws written in Section 172. I passed Other People's Police (OPP) yesterday with my visor up one hand on the bar and doing 135Km/Hr on 401. I was sure he was coming after me but nothing.

guess there'll be no more taking our left hands off the bars and waving to other riders lest we open ourselves up to a flurry of tickets. . .

lol or if we signal for a left turn.

I recently heard that starting this season cops are issuing tickets for the following:

1)riding with one hand on handlebar (careless driving)
2)riding with visor's open (distracting other motorist)

Can anyone confirm these? Or provide a link to up to date HTA.

I have a half lid... There is no visor. These are allowed. And like Jay said you have to be able to signal using your arms or you get a failure to signal charge. This is all BS.

people still do arm signalling? What's the downward 90 degree mean again?

down 90 = i'm stopping
up 90 = right turn
straight out to left = left turn

bicyclists are supposed to use these signals all the time, and also announce to other cyclists that they are going to overtake and on which side with a loud but polite "on your left" (if it's on the left side). . .don't think most bother doing that any more.

ah ok I'll be doing that down 90 all week just to see if driver's will give me more space.

lol, don't bet on it. . .

cyclists, who are supposed to use them, barely know them. . .

the chances of motorists knowing them are even slimmer. let us know how that goes though, but be prepared to be disappointed.

LMAO People are believing this? Stop confusing the people.

Troll post. Not the first from the OP in recent days

Can you state your source for this information?

Seems somwhat counter-intuitive, many riders do not wear full face helmets and you are are allowed under the HTA (and educated by every major Bike course) to signal with your arm.
