Riding 26 years mostly sport-tourers (CB, Concours, Norge), and an ADV (modified StromXA). This summer switched to a dual sport (DRZ) and learning the different world of off-road riding: no longer interested testing my luck again and using up a fourth life, on-road.😉

Welcome!

How would you compare the DR to the DL experience?

Completely different motorcycle. The Strom you sit more into it, and it was some weight although still pretty nimble. The DRZ you're on top of a thin mountain goat with not much view of the motorcycle at all. 160 pounds lighter, 4" or so taller, suspension soaks up bumps where my Strom clunked to the stoppers. The DRZ is torquey but really manageable, and it takes off more quickly than you think you are. Was surprised how smooth it was at 80 and still so at 100kmh (have not gone faster, and won't on knobbies). Riding is going to be 90% off road, or secondary country roads - speed is for good surfaces on silky sport tourers (that I friggin' miss).
