new Ford Ranger Raptop 2023

Anybody check out the Ford Maverick?
I hear that orders for the hybrid version are closed. It is the version that has a CVT tranny, personally never liked the driving experience of a CVT equipped vehicle, on paper pretty good fuel economy.

Gal friend took delivery of a base Maverick in early January, she paid the 28k base price , zero options .
Went from a 5yr old Audi A5 that was burning a quart of oil every 2k kms .
Happy so far and she can put her dog and crap in it .
She’s says tongue in cheek, the payments are the same as maintaining the audi and she does spill oil on her clothes

I was considering it briefly but then realized I'm an idiot and have zero need for a truck.

Plus my preferred option would be the hybrid motor with AWD, which I believe was not available.

I'm looking for a pick/up and a car but I can wait and hopefully things will calm down - but maybe not.

As for the Raptor, no offense Sochi but it looks like the kind of thing guys buy when they're not sure their junk is big enough.

The bike equivalent of turbo and stretched busa's?

Having run an overpowered pickup, I can say the novelty wears off pretty quick, as it's just endless wheelspin. Pull away from a light? Wheelspin. Stop on an uphill? Wheelspin. It's raining? Wheelspin. Snow? Forget it. RWD and no weight over the RW's is not a good performance recipe.

They're too high and softly sprung to corner, too. Unless you lower and stiffen springs, but then why not get a car?

I dig vehicles that are actually built to go off-road, but these are really only suited to being desert sleds, and there's not much of that around here...

have just a regular 3.5 eco and even with only <400hp, I experience the same thing a lot in wet or slippery conditions but there is one caveat to this. All of these new performance pickups have 4auto. So maybe you do get some wheelspin but having launched my truck a few times in 4Hi, you are definitely still going somewhere fast.

Ride on the coil rears and longer travel is amazing. As many reviewers have put it, they are just luxury trucks. You get performance, comfort and utility all in one. Have you seen GTA roads? I only need to get as far south as Steeles n 404 to realize I would never own a lowered performance car.
Still hoping the fuel economy isnt crap like the bronco.

Nothing funnier IMO than out cornering dudes in 'sports cars' in a pickup. Love leaving that suped up subaru/VW/AMG behind on an on ramp.

You kind of went off the rails there. Either they really screwed up their cars or they aren't trying. A truck cannot win in a corner. Physics screws you (high CoG, high weight, tall sidewall, crap rubber, etc). I've beat a lambo in a "race" too. I don't think the lambo knew he was racing.

not saying the truck is better. but most guys on the street have no skills or dont know how to drive. same with 90% of the dudes on an R6 on the street.

Sounds like a case of not the size of the dog in a fight but the size of fight in the dog.
