Need Some Suggestions With Cars

We had a few fusions as rentals, I have no idea how the long term ownership goes but its nicely styled, drove very well and held 4 adults and all the **** we carried.

How about a Pontiac G8? I love those things and I'm sure with the V8 it'll be a hoot to drive.

I've got a 2015 Ford Fusion Titanium, AWD, 240 hp, 270 ft/lbs and all of the electronic wizardry of German models that cost $10K more. Mine was $42K OTD but used examples can be had for 25-30K. Highly reccommend. Trunk space is great too. I can fit three full-sized hockey bags in there.

Here is a review. Guy is kind of a jackass but you'll get the idea.

I've owned a previous gen Fusion (2010) with V6 and it was a great car.

Our company provides the latest version Fusion with the lacklustre 1.6 L with a decent trim level. They are very roomy and ride nice. Other than a recall, they hold up pretty well too.

Most of my colleagues have switched from Nissan Altima's to the Fusion and even replaced their old Fusion with a new one. And given the chance to change, typically do. So when they replace it with another of the same model, it's a pretty good endorsement.

My needs require a SUV or wagon.

You have to find one first.

Although i agree.

Very hard to find one in manual...but here's an auto V8 you go...

Hell if I wasn't looking for a house right now I think I'd go and try to pick it up...but banks don't like loans when you're looking at mortgages so I'll stick with my paid off cars :( Would be nice to switch up the high revving v-tech POWER for a low grunt V8...I'm sure even the V6 is good fun.

I'm no the OP, but thanks for the Fusion feedback guys, good to know

Focus ST. Such a pleasure to drive. She is thirsty though and with a small 45L gas tank. Alot of smiles per mile though.
Mazda 3s are nice too
Fiesta ST

Crazy how much love Ford gets lately. If my BIL didn't switch jobs, his company Fusion was gonna be mine when it came off lease. I was looking forward to that.
Is there much difference between the 08 and the 09 G8? My boss has the 08 and I'm pretty sure he wasn't gonna be asking anywhere near that $18k price posted in the link, when he said he was thinking of selling.

I'm not really a true car guy, basic transportation, fuel consumption and cost of maintenance are priorities. I feel any modern car can be tossed around the backroads for fun, no need spending a lot extra. I guess that comes from watching old spy thrillers where swarthy Italians careen FIAT 128's thru small villages and big Alps. With that in mind I saw a car yesterday I had never noticed before, the Veloster. 140hp/6 speed manual. Are you kidding me? That's awesome. Here's a mind blower, Hyundai has a sub $30k coupe Genesis 350hp/6speed manual that looks great and more importantly appears to be a better car than mid 80's Porsche 911/930 Turbo. That's like todays 600SS's could have won World Championships a few years ago. Great time to be a petrol head, just fill the tank. Get a Hyundai or 1969-1985 FIAT 128 sedan.

No notable changes. Great car. If my financial advisor allowed me to, i would have got one. She said no. But I did end up getting another motorcycle.

Those Veloster things ride like crap. Had a rental for a week and wanted to toss I back. I loved the look of them but, I couldn't imagine owning one. Pos.

I had the exact opposite impression. I took one for a little jaunt and had a
$#!+ eating grin on my face for a few hours. Mind you, this was coming from driving my minivan. Family vehicle? No. But a fun little car nonetheless imo.

Drive it in the winter or summer? In the winter....

Road noise? Terrible.

The knobs for the heating/A/C/radio are old gen Korean flimsy bits. Thought they would break after 6 months.

Meh, I really wanted to like it. Different strokes for different folks. Lol.

Let me say that I drive minimum 6 year old vehicles exclusively, with my present ride being a 10 year old Pilot. This was a brand new model and it was a short ride. But my BIL had a Sante Fe for his wife and then got another for himself and I love the look of the Genesis sedan. Hyundai, for me, is a definite contender. And the old school knobs? I actually prefer them over all the touch wizardry. More things to break. Here's something to chuckle about: just try picturing me trying to get my fat @$$ out of the Veloster!

I have very low standards. Reason I wouldn't buy one because many buttons on steering wheel and, get this, some sort of video screen in the dash. Ugg.

I had a b/n base model Hyundai Accent less than 100hp/5 speed. I beat on it like rental kart and the windows rolled up water tight. The stereo was gravy. What more could you ask for? Unbelievably cheap and reliable to run. Low standards ftw.

Road noise, okay. Flimsy knobs? I'm out.

Joe,

I don't mind Hyundai products. Actually a fan of their recent versions of Santa Fe and Tucson. Well equipped, ride nice and the touch and feel of controls are decent quality. Thoughtful interior design with lots of storage.

Look, I prefer trusted and true. My better half's Matrix is as basic as it gets and it's a great little car. Starting to rust and the paint fading but otherwise, a solid machine.

My nit pick with the Veloster is, the quality feel of the controls. Like the previous gen Tucson. Cheap shiny plastic. Ages like crap. Feels like crap.

The model I drove was the turbo version with 18" rims and auto trans.

I didn't find the engine all that impressive and just felt like it rode junky over rough roads. I'm sure it's because I'm getting closer to 50 years young and all the young folks like that look. Low, big rims, etc.

It just didn't seem to ride very well.

On the flip side, drove a Micra and a Spark recently and both were excellent little cars.

Sorry to high jack the thread. Way off on a tangerine!
