Need chain installed

Like I said I am not commenting on the job done just the price. I do not ever comment on other shops work. Its just not proper so I never do. I was more commenting on the post that said an install could be done in ten minutes.

I charge $60 for chain and sprocket install. $80 isnt so bad?
To the poster that said its 10 min I would like to see that. If just stringing a chain without sprockets maybe but there is no way your going to get the bike on the lift, pull the rear wheel change the sprocket, pull countershaft cover (many bikes require shift linkage removal), Change countershaft sprocket string chain, likely cut it then revit and reassemble everything all in 10 mninutes. I will put money on it.
As for too tight thats a whole other matter.

I agree. Anyone that can do sprockets and chain on a bike in 10 min is a freak show and probably missed something. 80 sounds right but it should have been done correctly and not let go with the statement of it will clear up

He just adjusted it.... Never asked. None the less steering was nice after.

Unfortunately the rivet was put on too tight.... :( at least I don't think this thumping is normal.. Is it with a new chain? I noticed it when I left asked him he said it would work its way looser but just don't seem right.

I'm not much for videos but I made one about the problem

Here are some pics too

So that's that the pics look ok but the video is the thumping issue I have.

Was this a new chain? Looks pretty dirty....DID chains usually come with white grease on them.

was this a pre-cut to length chain?

It was a chain that was bought from a member here with a new master link provided for the chain. Master link was new and that's what they couldn't do right the rest of the chain is fine. Now with clip link everything is mint.

Nice! You just gonna rock the clip or get a new rivet master?

Rivet is on order. Seems the clip links are what everybody stocks and not rivet.
Good stuff. Some people just rock clip links on lower powered bikes, etc. that's why I was asking.

I love rivet though :)

If this directed towards me, read my post again. Ten minutes is for a chain only. Changing sprockets expect up to an hour.

What model DID is this?

So this was a used chain....with a new master link?

The chain breaker/rivet tool is $40 from royal. Great investment imo. If your confident in your mechanical skill id say buy one and do it yourself, $80 is a bit harsh for a chain install.

Why would someone sell a used chain? I just can't figure it out.

Maybe because they needed to change their gearing with a larger rear sprocket and the chain no longer fit. Since the chain was only used for less than 1000 km, it represented good value to someone else.....

Ahhh makes sense :) I always do a new chain with sprockets, didn't feel comfortable selling people my old one if I had put some KM's on it ;)

Yes of course changing the chain and the sprockets at the same time is a best practice. However, with that little mileage on it, there is going to be no appreciable risk of prematurely wearing anything out. That chain is is rated for motorcycle's far more powerful than the OP's application and will last a long, long time.

Pro6 had a rivet in stock for the chain I got from them, handy since I forgot to ask for it.

$40 for a chain tool?? Is it TGTBT??
My RK rivet tool was well like $140.00. I would suspect the quality of the tool. Bad tools make easy jobs turn into bad/****** jobs real quick.

$40 but it will only work once.
