I had an awesome girl who since moved to Japan.
I wanted to finish my half sleeve but I am struggling to find an artist who does the style I require well.
I want to do old style pin up girls with a modern twist. I want some one who can do faces properly cause that's the part most seem to struggle with.

Thanks for your imput!

Lila at True Grit in Burlington. She actualluy used to be partners with Cory. Same goes for the wait but again worth it. l

I am quite well versed in Good tattoo artists in the Toronto area.

List as follows:

My guy is Chris Moniz. He owns integral temple in markham. Great work and specializes in the human physique. Has a comic book style in his tattoos.

Then there is Jacqualine at Yonge st tattoos. Amazing work.

Then there is david glance at archive tattoo.

Then there is pearl harbour gift shop. daniel innes and bill baker are both amazing guys.

There are a lot more but check out these people first. You are getting elite tattoo artists with the ones mentioned above. All have big long and expensive waiting lists (except maybe chris at integral temple).

And if you want someone who is like, top of the line regarding face work.

Bob Tyrrell is your man then. I have never seen a better portrait tattoo in my life. He used to be local but moved because he got pretty famous. He is uber expensive and has a very very long waiting list.

In my eyes tattoos should always be pieces of art. And I always rather have a Picasso than a kindergarten finger painting.

Happy hunting!!!

Thanks everyone! That Tora looks very ideal and I have heard about Chris Moniz before. Lots to consider but this is all VERY helpful.

+1 for Daniel Innes at pearl harbour, I just had my second sitting on an arm sleeve and a leg sleeve is in the plans as well.

Just pass out first while drinking with your buddies. I'm sure they can come up with something. That's where I think most tattoos come from. Those without, are the strongest drinkers.

Actually, check out peoples tattoos, find one you like and see if you can find that artist.

Offtopic but whats the average cost of a tattoo using an iphone for size comparison (want to get a couple Chinese characters)?

Being the anniversary of a very close friend's passing.....I'm soon getting another tattoo.

Good luck Banger.

depends on the artist and complexity of the design.
a decent shop might charge around $100/hr+
an excellent shop might be $150/hr+

The smaller it is the more likely they will quote an all in price.

Chinese characters sounds right up the "all in price" alley

Tora in Waterloo is the only place I'll go.
Jamie sells out SUPER fast -- last time I was in, he was booking consults up to 3 months in advance with actual tattoo time 5 months in advance (oh yeah, he takes bookings 1 or 2 days a month, and that's it, so call in advance if you really want him to do your work).
Brian is great as well - he's the guy who's done my tatts.

Sushii - most shops have a minimum flat rate, and beyond that it's all time, based on estimate and what the design is. If you want simple kanji without shading etc, you can have an apprentice do it and save a ton of money.

I'm willing to pay more for a job well done. I dont want an "apprentice" messing the tat up.
