Need a new String Timmer ( Weed Wacker) this year.

I have a Greenworx one. 18v maybe, not sure. Works just fine for my reasonable size front and back yard. Celebrated the day I got rid of my Poulain Pro gas strimmer that was nothing but a constant headache. Thinking about getting a battery lawnmower now as the tech has come a long way. The Greenworx strimmers are cheap enough (for the lower voltage battery ones) to splurge for an extra battery if you have a larger yard or another tool. I think my strimmer and leaf blower work on the same battery and I use the cordless leaf blower to dry the car and bike after a wash.

doubt you would get more than 5 years out of a battery and todays plastic junk.
Mine's 15 years old and was bought for 99 bucks new.
I'll see if I can get another year out of it while I research a replacement.

How many volts is current solution? Which battery technology does it have? For the price and age, it may be sla and a few days on a battery conditioner may get some life back for free.

EDIT:
Another upside to life extension is it is probably old enough to be easier to use. I bought a battery hedge trimmer and it requires three things be pushed at the same time to turn it on. Let go of any of them and it stops. Pain in the ass. I will probably pull it apart and disable some of them. Jobs I can do with a 20 yo pos corded trimmer can't be done with the cordless as I don't have enough reach with both hands where they want them.

I have no idea, but 14 or 18 comes to mind, as for what type of battery that it is not listed anywhere.
I only have to press a thumb (safety) then a trigger to get mine moving, so not so bad.

Modern safety standards is why I welded up this rotted free to me B&D electric mower, sometimes it is worth the hassle to keep it going. Swing handle for the win. Likely cut out and replaced 20%+ of the deck....

Ran over a few cords with that type of mower back in the day. Good times.

As for me...I need to see if there's a mower out there that would do my yard (front and back) on 1-2 batteries. I know that I see some of the leaf blowers that are battery powered around here...wow...move a leaf 1ft, and another foot, and another foot, and another foot...

Meanwhile my gas 2 stroke gets the job done in no time.

My 18V makita leaf blower isn't terrible(116 MPH and 459 CFM). Not as good as the two stroke (174mph and 444 cfm) and sub 10 minutes from a full battery. I mainly use it inside or for quick cleanups. Using it for major leaf cleanup would be forcing it to do something it is not designed for. Now, 10 minutes of cleanup is a long time as you give it hits when you need it and it is off or slow between. On a gasser you'd just leave it floored. Like an EV, you need to modify your behavior to match equipment.

I've spent 1+ hrs on my yard in Mississauga....2-3hrs in Wasaga at full tilt.

I'm a firm believer of the right tool for the right job...this ain't it.

FWIW Home Hardware has their house brand "Radley" string trimmer on sale regular $79.99 now $59.97. Comes with battery and charger.

is it really that troublesome to add a bit of stabilizer before putting away for the season?
Yeah, I'm more of a ride hard, put away wet kinda person. In all seriousness, if the gas tank isn't completely full, rust develops. Forget to drain the bowl after going out for the last time, for a second time, goop can take over. F gas ones.
No carbs to clean
No carbs to adjust
No plugs to clean
No tank to rust
No gas/oil to buy
No gas/oil to store
No gas/oil to mix
No noise
And....
My wife and kids can run it without me having to go outside to start it.
If I have to buy a battery every few years, so be it. This is a motorcycle forum, everyone here is used to buying batteries every few years.

The only problem I foresee with all my garden stuff being electric / battery is I don't have gas for the generator if the power goes out. Siphon the cage I guess.
