Need a new gas BBQ. Weber or Broil King?

A bit late to the party, but my vote is for the Weber as well, glad you got it...I have had mine for 15 years, replaced and ignitier....

too bad you didn't hit the home shows, some really good deals there, I almost purchased another one, but I didn't know what to do with the one I have....

Over the years it will pay for itself, a little pain now, but it works out well in the end....

So when is the first BBQ......

aha....in 2 weeks. Also bought a fridge and BBQ gazebo and as I nearly fainted with the cost they said I could combine all deliveries into one and just pay one delivery fee...they'll also assemble the BBQ and deliver it assembled. Some pretty good deals at Lowe's today with the 15% off and interest free, zero fees 12 months payments.

Not to Highjack the thread, but does anyone have experience with Brinkmann BBQ's from Home Depot? They are priced well for the options they have. Just not sure of the quality. I know they are not a weber :p

Iirc what you need to be concerned with are: BTUs, type of grill (ceramic / ss), type of steel it is constructed of (not sure why 808 stands out in my head).
I've personally had my eye on the Lowe's one that has the sink, fridge and granite counters....

Keep in mind for the offshore store brands or the off brands... spare parts are nonexistent. Once that grill gets five years out you will not get any parts for it, maybe you can get a generic part to work, maybe. Some people get a decade plus out of these, most do not. Anyone I know that has had one scrapped them in the three to seven year range, some even before.

IMO go really cheap or go name brand. Skip the middle ground, for the most part the deal is a fools errand.

I have a two BBQs in my backyard, both Weber. One is charcoal and the other Weber gas. Both BBQs are amazing. My charcoal has sat in three seasons of winter with no cover and it still looks immaculate. I picked up the gas BBQ last season because frankly it's just easier to have two BBQs when you're hosting a party, and the gas is instant on. The charcoal requires more time to temper the heat ;)

Obviously, I would recommend the Weber.

I picked up a 2-burner Charbroil at Lowes 3 years ago and it's absolutely shagged. The SS infrared grill portion started disintegrating after the first year and is gone now. Also the ignitor doesn't work and the metal windscreen underneath the burner rusted and fell off. Junk for $300.

Weber. I believe they are better than Broil King, although Broil King is still really good as I have one and can speak from experience. The only reason why I didn't by the Weber was because at the time it was out of our price range for the size we were looking for.

Late to the party I believe you bought already. I have a BroilKing Baron 590S. I got it simply because it was bigger, I can use a bigger grill over a smaller one from Weber that is more expensive.

No problems with quality, have been using it since last year and during BBQ season has been cooking 3-4 times a week. During winter I still go out if it isn't snowing or -15c.

I just got a Vision Grills Kamado bbq and I might sell my Weber Genesis 330. The charcoal flavour is way better.

I have a weber charbroil portable grill. Charcoiled and smoked food is the best thing it the world. #wetwoodchipsFTW

Previous Homeowner left his Natural Gas Weber Genesis 3100 series from Home Depot.

Wife wanted to throw it out. Just needed some cleaning up. :D

It looks to be 16 years old now. As a price comparison, the 1100 was $837, back then.
I guess they upsold him.

Smoked food is the best thing in the world. Im going to debate #wetwoodchips. I dont soak the chips before using them, wet = steam till they dry out and then smoke. Do you really want to steam a steak?

Well some smokers do work by steam the one I have is on sale this week at Canadian tire, needs to be a bit warmer before I fire it up. FIL's green egg has been used all winter.

+ 1

I have a smoke box for wood chips (haven't used it yet) but was told the wet chips help to keep the chips from burning up and they smolder.
