Need $200?

I hate those places. found out a room mate was going to those places so i asked him how much he owed and how much he needed and gave him 400 bucks. gave me 2 postdated cheques for 200 for a few months later for when he felt the cash would be ready.

I think he needed the cash for a buddies wedding.

some of the other expenses he had i questioned but it i kept my mouth shut as it wasn't my job to tell him how to run his life.

You're a better person than me.

If I had enough cash to cover what a friend owed on credit cards or one of the cash places I would have mixed emotions about getting involved. Having learned the hard I can be a bit self righteous.

^ Agreed; most people that are bad enough with money to have to resort to these places are going to be just as bad with anything you lend them and not be able to pay it back.

Back when I rented out a room in my house to a friend who was bad with money and this situation came up, I took a more direct approach. I'll overlook that you are a couple months behind provided that the situation doesn't get any worse AND you do something about two things that you are throwing away money on: No more smoking, and no more long distance phone calls. (He had a problem with calling those phone-sex places and rang up a $1000 bill in one month ... that was the last straw). I had the telephone blocked for all long distance calls (local calls only - took some co-ordination with family so that they called in rather than him calling out - this was pre-cell-phone era). I knew he'd keep smoking, but if it was only at times and places that neither I nor any of our common friends knew about, it would cut the monthly bill down. He kept his end of it and eventually paid off the debt, doesn't owe me a penny.

watch the show called "princess" on slice.ca

these women are incredible...they usually earn little to no money being "make up artist" or "beautician" but spend money like they are making 90K a year....How can they do that? because they mooch of good hearted family and friends...their attitudes are incredible. This one chick had her great aunt take out $10K line of credit to pay for her schooling and she blatantly on TV says "well, you know, she gave me that money, so its in the past, i dont think i have to pay her off because its history". She also "borrowed" her car and never returned it. So the great aunt is still paying for the insurance and maintenance while the little b*tch is driving it around....
