NASCAR at Talladega

That is over 300 kph for us !!

Inches apart.

Still they're riding in a well engineered protective cage and for that reason I don't think it can hold a candle to bikes.
(...hold a candle?? what does really mean?)

How 'bout those cars at Talladaga are doing that through a restrictor plate that chokes their carbs down to less carb throat area than on your CB750
That's pretty impressive

Why would you even reply with this ?

How do you say I’m racist without saying I’m a racist

Gotta say that the super speedway races are better enjoyed on the tube than in person the cars are just moving too fast to take in from the stands.

Been a long time on my bucket list for sure

Some friends really care and took the RV to talladega this year. They only have a couple tracks left to complete the set.

I went to daytona once as I was in florida anyway and tickets were reasonably cheap. Meh. It was fine. I'd much rather watch VRRA than nascar.

Long story short, I (very briefly) rode an RZ350 on the high banks and road course of Daytona during an AMA Championship Cup endurance race.
The place scared me silly...

I walked the track. Pretty cool. it would be fun to drive there. I'm not sure how I feel about high banks on a bike. That is a hell of a lot of energy straight towards a wall.

Sounds like my neighbours. They only need 2 more, to claim they've been to every track.
Same with the Blue Jays......they've been to EVERY National League park to watch the Jays play......they got to San Fran & Oakland (last hurrah) this summer to complete the mission.

I grew up at southern Ontario tracks watching go rounders . My mom was nuts for stock car and Indy car racing . I’d love to see a big race a talledega or Daytona .
To be honest I watched lawn tractors on a grass ‘road’ course last summer . I’d go again, they had beer .

It's bumpier than it looks. Coming down off the bowl to the infield is wicked.

B's late husband drove Super Modifieds mostly at Oswego NY. I've heard lots about them, gotta check it out sometime.

Super mods are a pretty cool car . They used to tour different tracks , usually two stops per season at Flamboro speedway . It would be an expensive hobby now .

Years ago they flew Dale Earnhart in to race at Cayuga. OF COURSE he got pole... the green flag drops... and 4 cars take out Dale Earnhart. TOTALLY intentional, it was obvious... he didn't even make it to corner one. One of the funniest thing I have seen on the track
Dale went into the pits, it took 3 or 4 laps for his crew to build a new front end out of garbage bags and duct tape, went back out and lapped everyone at least twice to win the race
Nascar is fast and really cool, but has nothin on saturday night at the local racetrack for excitement... particularly when you know most of the drivers out there are just gassed
Don't know if they still do, but for the longest time all the nascar teams ran made in Canada Slack frames in their short track cars. Slack used to own both the Cayuga tracks
Roundy round guys party a LOT harder than open wheel or drag guys
