My new bike

So I've been looking for a new bike since the GS died.

Found a great deal on a Ninja 500 in Collingwood. Was supposed to make it out last night to get it, but couldn't. So I went out early this morning. I left around 530am, got to Coll around 820 and promptly started looking at the bike, then took it for a test ride. After about 20-30 minutes I finally make it back to the sellers house (lost track of time having fun...) and immediately said I'm buying it.

The seller was amazing. He let me use his plates + insurance to ride it home to Oakville (3 hours in this pelting rain and cold were fun... I forgot to pack my raingear and somehow got a bit of frostbite on my hands.) He also told someone else interested, that I was coming to look at it, but told him I was coming at 10am (I said I'd be there around 8-9, guess he forgot.) After telling him I was going to buy the bike he send the other guy (who was already on his way) a message saying I showed up earlier than expected and I'm going to buy the bike (the other guy was going to show up at 930 and try and snipe it from me.) So then the other guy calls the seller and is trying to get him to hold the bike, and/or start a bidding war by offering him 2100. The seller said he couldn't do that, he put on the ad first one to show up with money gets it, and he couldn't dick me around or charge me a price difference than what we agreed upon. By far the nicest guy I've ever dealt with on Kijiji.

Anyways, it's a 2002 Kawasaki Ninja 500 with 31500km on it. The bike is in mint condition, not a single scratch on it, and runs flawlessly. It has a Zero Gravity windscreen (or at least a sticker placed on it), and I believe an aftermarket horn (haven't taken a look in there yet.) It also has a few LEDs a previous owner put on it (both previous owners before my seller were female.)

After a 3 hour ride on the Ninja taking it home; I've come to the conclusion it is much better than than the GS500. It has more power, a better riding position (for me), handles better, and feels so much lighter than the GS. The Kawasaki Positive Neutral Finder is also AMAZING!

Nice bike, enjoy!

Thanks all.

I took it through Hockley Road on the way back (with the rain I didn't want to do river road as I still need to learn the bike) and WOW does it want to just flick into corners, even at higher speeds.

and @the27th, the guy I bought it from bought it 3 months ago and only put 3000km on it himself.

Didn't see this thread so I posted elsewhere. Grats on the new bike.

Good job on the new bike! Keep it in shape this winter and we'll see you in the spring. I'm going into storage soon :(

Sorry to hear about the storage...
I'll be riding mine, just wiping it down after every ride. The salt from the states is what killed my bike last winter.

Does not compute. :D
As the story was told to me;
Both of them were wives and mothers so they weren't dragging knee around any corners. And their husbands also rode, so they made sure the bike was well taken care of.

I know the chicken strips are pretty huge on it right now. And the guy only put 3000km on it in 3 months.

Oh, and the best part. The brakes work perfect!

Congrats...the bike looks in great condition...++1 on the brakes, then again I think you took the cake for worst brakes in use...:D
