My helmet saved my life

Scary

Suomy spec 1R extreme... Crash tested it today - I flew 65ft. from the point of impact (with a car) and my head DEFINITELY made contact a few times along the way before coming to a stop. I remember lying on the concrete assessing my damage in my mind and thinking 'damn, this helmet is comfortable!' Highly recommended. I don't think my zox or hjc woulda held up as well.

Completely bummed though...... no collision insurance, accident is my fault.... total loss :(

Both great and sorry to hear it. :( at least you're at home instead of the ICU

Wow. That is some product review. Glad you are ok and I hope the rest of you faired as well as your head!

yea, that's kind of what they're made for...
hope you're not too banged up.

I have the exact same helmet. Got it on sale from gp. Reading this makes me even more happy about my purchase

glad ur alright
so what happened...?

and don't forget to see your doctor and get checked out. You might have a concussion and you might want to stay away from contact sports for a while, plus other stuff your doctor might want to order. Esp. if you start developing headaches.

Thanks for the good wishes, guys :)
I'll keep this brief because im typing from my phone.
Very short version, i was in a hurry and attempted to pass 2 cars (on one lane road) on the left (oncoming); the car in front turned left into my path as i was passing and i was going too fast to do anything other than cut left as hard as possible... And i still tagged the front end hard. I was launched (my shoes still planted on the road where i ejected), my bike did a 30ft summersault, i landed 65ft away on a sidwalk and i was taken to emerg in an ambulance. The doctors xrayed every part of my body it seemed, i have 2 small rash spots on my arm and leg, my right hand and foot are stiff, and thats it. Not even a headache (which i attribute to my kick *** helmet and the good Lord). My bike, on the other hand, is completely effed. Theres more but i'll update later.

Get well soon! Just be happy you survived the ordeal in 1 piece and can learn from this.

get well soon! I know we arent supposed to debate who is at fault or whatever in these posts, but you said that the collision was your fault. However, doesnt the car in front of you have some responsibility to ensure the way is clear before making that turn. [I'm assuming by your post that he was either turning into a driveway or side-street, or pulling out to pass the 1st vehicle] Maybe its not a total loss for you if the car driver shares in the responsibility.

there is some sort of flaw in the law. Its an improper left turn on the cars part. wouldn't be so quick to say its your fault. let the police and other law experts determine that. Glad your doing well it the most important thing.

Get well soon :) I kno ur not hurt, but the event is def a bummer... Glad ur Alive and talking About it.

No it's not..it's the following vehicle's responsibility to pass safely. It's the equivalent of rear-ending someone.

And OP, sorry to hear and hope you heal up quickly. Just an unfortunate situation any way you look at it.

I dunno what the law is, to be honest. I'm going in wed. to invoke my right to trial... if only to delay things a little. Strangely, the other party involved has not lodged an insurance claim yet. I'll be very curious to see disclosure and find out what's going on.

Damn I REALLY miss my bike...........
