My Dog :(

^Beautiful Golden. :)

The vet just called. I am so relieved!!! They got the canine tooth out and could not see any evidence of a tumour or cancerous cells. The bone itself is quite infected though. He'll be on antibiotics and painkillers for the next two weeks. No chewing or rough play with his toys either (good luck with that). Hopefully the antibiotics will take care of the infection and he won't have anymore problems.

Thanks again for your support, everyone. I really appreciate your letting me vent my worries too. :)

Great news!
This is why I always have at least 3 dogs. When we have to put one down i can't stand coming home to an empty house or to one lonely dog who misses his buddy

That's awesome, awesome news! I lost my dog Max to cancer 6 months ago today :(. And coincidentally today would have been his 7th birthday. It's the hardest thing you would ever want to experience and am so happy to hear such great news about your dog. Not a day has gone by where I don't stop and reflect of the short time we had together. Cherish every moment you have together, which I'm sure you do!! Cheers.

Stormcat - That's great news!! ?

I'm very happy for both of you.
Good luck keeping him quiet (i have two idiot labs here). He'll be groggy and tired for a day or so.

He'll be just fine, and your vet is getting new Pirreli's for the Porche, so its all good.......

f1mauro, I lost a cat to cancer. It's so hard to deal with and it happens so quick. You have my sympathies. Your Max was very cute. Cancer is terrible. It's just so awful. :(

crankcall, yup, at $1300 I'd say they got some new tires! Blair is home now. He's whining (breaks my heart!). His back end isn't working very well yet and he hasn't been able to do his doggie yard business. He's also not interested in eating the chopped up rotisserie chicken I just bought him. He's got some good pain pills and heavy antibiotics. I might sleep on the floor with him tonight. He's a sorry sight.

Caboose, what happened to Ernie?!!

redridernl, you didn't even like dogs before you met Blair. See? My dog is so good he even makes dog haters into dog lovers.

This is the canine they pulled out of my dog. It's incredible. I had no idea that you only see like, 20% of the actual tooth above the gum line. There's so much deep in the jaw.

That's a big *** tooth. Stormcat, you should blur out the teeth profile on the key. If someone is really bored, they could copy the key from the picture.

It's ok. That's not the key to my house. It's a key to a friend's house that has since been sold. I took it off my keyring to throw it away.

Caboose, what happened to Ernie?!!

He had an abscess on his face. He needed surgery to get it removed, and 3 holes drilled in his skull to help it drain. There have been two infections since surgery so he's not quite out of the woods yet. He's a tough little brat tho.

Glad your dawg is ok. I've been worried about Ernie lately and its unpleasant. He's supposed to die jumping his dirt bike over the house when he's like 20.

Just saw this thread and am relieved it has a happy ending. I had to put down my 13yr old, much loved, Hector The Wonder Dog this past February and it was one of the worst days of my life.

@Caboose: OMG, I hope Ernie feels better soon. Did he get bitten by another cat or something? We had an old stray cat when I was a kid. He used to get into all sorts of fights with other neighbourhood cats. He had his share of abscesses and surgeries to deal with the wounds. Including one on the top of his head just like Ernie.

@redridernl: He is a great dog indeed. And he knows it. He says "shiiiiiinglllllleees" btw. ;)

@Gummiente: I'm sorry for your loss. He looks like he was a happy puppy. And a cool puppy with his doggles. I read a blog a while ago written by a rider who tours all over the place with his dog in a sidecar. He went on a journey to find inner peace of sorts after his child passed away. The dog is a Pit Bull (IIRC) that he saved from an animal shelter. If I find it, I'll send you the link. It's quite an inspiring story.

Blair says "woof! thanks!" for the Birthday wishes. Last night was trying. He didn't want me to leave him. As soon as I would, he'd start crying again. He was also unable to pee as his back end was all wonky and wobbly from the anesthetic. He got 60mg of codeine last night, which blissfully helped him quieten down and get some rest. This morning he's looking a bit better, walking better, and was able to do his business in the backyard. His spirits are up, be he refuses to eat. That sucks because his other painkiller/anti-inflammatory is in his food. And thankfully, he's easy to pill, so that big antibiotic tablet wasn't a problem to get into him. I'll offer him a walk tonight. That should lift his spirits even more.
