My airbrushed skull shoei gt-air

Looks good! But 6 Bills is enough to buy you another helmet! The price of the helmet + the paintwork can land you a Schuberth SR1 or a full carbon AGV Pista.

Different strokes for different folks indeed!

Depending on the paint used wouldn't it change the impact protection characteristics of the helmet?

The official line is you aren't supposed to paint helmets (and I thought painting them affected the DOT rating?). If it's a fibreglass helmet, I doubt you could actually affect its performance with paint. Plastic helmets you may be able to hurt.

yeh but it's about having something personalized that no one lse will have....

I think the idea is that if someone doesn't know what they're doing they might either get a contaminant or heat on the liner, which would destroy the protective characteristics.

That, or the paintjob is so offensively ugly that you become a target.

I see your date got a new hair cut! Glad to see that your relationship is still going strong!

I like the look of both helmets.

Where did you get your helmet done? OP where did you get your helmet done?

Since winter has arrived I'd like to get a design on a new helmet.

Mohawks aren't for me on helmets, but I've seen the Elmo and Cookie Monster covers and those make me laugh.[/QUOTE]
It's a pretty decent airbrush job too. It's very clean and original. However, like the others, I'm not too sure thta I would rock it myself. Just because it's too flashy and attracts attention to myself. I too would go with a vintage racing color scheme.

The idea is that paints give off solvent vapors that will attack the EPS foam liner, not the shell. Racing helmets are painted before the EPS liner is inserted and glued.

Having said that, I doubt painting will practically affect the EPS liner from the tiny amount of solvent from an airbrush, in a well ventilated area.

For Plastic shells, you need to use plastics-safe acrylics.

I think the point is that its custom, those helmets your listed can be bought by anyone...And when you go around many people will have the same helmet as you....

People like myself like to have custom things that other people wont have the exact same....And we are willing to pay extra for that

If you come across with wind whistle in the GT-Air, clean the visor seals and apply a bit of silicone oil that comes with the helmet, as time goes some small debris will get trap in between the visor and seal hence creating an opportunity for air to vibrate and causing the wind whistle noise. I've been using it almost everyday for a month and it happened to me, I cleaned it today, no more whistling! Thanks god, I thought I had to repair it! I know it's kinda off-topic but I just want to post a tip in case anyone had this problem.

I totally understand the whole custom thing. In fact, I try to get things that not too many people 'rock' as well.

And the the helmets I listed, I highly doubt 'many' people will be rocking the SR1 or the Pista. I don't think most people will wanna spend over a grand for a helmet.

Like I said, different strokes...if it was up to me, i'd rather spend that money on an upper end helmet rather than wanting to stick out like a sore thumb.
