My 2004 CBR 1000RR STOLEN

You don't normally hear a lot about bikes being stolen in the KW area. Sucks, hope you have insurance, then at least you can just get a new ride.

Actually, last year there was quite a rash at the beginning of June. It's a few weeks later this time.. wonder if it's the same group of thieves making their rounds again.
Glad I ride a sport bike that thieves really don't want...

Wow that's ****** dude.

I'm sure that I'm going to be living in an apartment in the near future.. other than locks and alarms, is there anything else I could do to keep the bike safe? Although I know no one would want to steal my current bike, I'm sure my future bike won't be as safe.

the one guy has a goatee.. and quite distinctive skinny legs in those long shorts.. bet he would stick out at the track or a bike shop..

There cant be that many trailers like that in KW either..

Keep us posted on what happens (whether you get a new one or the bike is recovered). Almost better to get insurance money at this point thanks to the way they manhandled it.

They couldn't care less for the plastics.. the bike is being parted out or tracked. Simple really.

@Kiwi: The issue is they're probably not from K/W :( I remember most of the arrests being in the Oshawa area, no?

true. I'm sure there are groups of different guys working the whole GTA area. We only see a small percent reported here online, and then only a few of the victims bother to post on the stolen bike thread.

Maybe we should dial up the Toronto Star? They always love kicking the police in the @ss. Splash the headlines with people who have video of their bikes being stolen and the fails by the police. Doesn't it usually lead to arrests or police saving the day?

I can't imagine how ballistic I would be. I'm just picturing pulling into the garage in my car and seeing this. I think I would just accelerate directly into the lot of them.

Sorry about this op.
I too live in a condo near the University.
We have been discussing what can be done to prevent this.

The way that things are going, it won't be long before this sort of thing is needed.

Sorry to hear OP ;(. I have an Scorpio i900 installed on my Daytona and it went off at 3am in the morning at my condo. I dont know if someone was scouting it, trying to take it, or just got too close but I think its the best investment I have made to keep these low lifes away. I hope you get it back and these 2 guys get whats coming to em.

That guy has a lot of bikes.
Can't they just use a cutter on the two silver pieces?

Neat idea but it does not take long to take front wheel off.

Yes, on both counts, but would they go to the trouble or just go somewhere else?

There are other, similar things that completely enclose the front wheel on both sides, with a big bar that goes right through.

I agree - anything to slow them down (at the minimum)
