Well, thanks to all for not going for a lynchmob on me.

I belive a country does have the right to pick and choose which culture is deem acceptable to stay.

Some culture share many common beliefs, like working to earn a living.
The Chinese and the Jewish shared a common belief that you must contribute to society before taking from it. That belief is what bulit most of Canada as we all see it today. Not only do these cultures belive in hard work they believe in educating themselves to advance society.

Not all culture contribute, some just blatantly comsume. You can tell by the state of their homeland.

It time for Canada to be selective about who they are bringing in.
We need a serious right wing movement in this country.

Reserve the riches only for those who will work for it.

No, what's idiotic is comparing the migration of the natives in north America which was tens of thousands of years ago into a free uninhabited territory, to the migration of the new settlers into native territory a few centuries ago, the new immigrants more recently, and call everyone immigrants!
 
Nothing against immigration as my family came here to escape war and I was not even born here BUT. Vet new immigrants better. We never went on social help, pay our taxes in full, I love my country and maintain a connection but I identify myself as primarily Canadian an hence have a Canadian flag on my wall.

The issue is these new people coming in droves who either cant or don't want to work for a job who's children contribute nothing to society. Or the people with offshore accounts who don't pay diddly squat in income tax and buy everything with mommy and daddy's cash empire back home without making any real contribution to our economy.

Fix the system, this country was built on immigration, now its being dissembled by it.

Actually you're the one being kinda silly... the natives, for all intents and purposes, were the first here. You can call them immigrants or settlers or founders, but that's just semantics. Big difference between them migrating here 10,000 years ago, and the Europeans coming over 500 years ago to take over.

It is language that unites. It will have it's place because there will be fair size group of people that do not want to be a part of the mainstream religion etc...
therefore they will leave and tend to gravitate to other places of similar people from similar circumstances.

Technology provides an open window to see and hear what you want to know.

The two groups you highlighted as being your standards of excellence are fails.

1. Israel - involved in endless WARS and has numerous UN violations against them...including STEALING land
2. China - HUMAN RIGHTS violations, speak up...bullet to the head or they run you over with a tank

Btw- be careful what you ask for because some group might put you inside the box.

Take 2 kids (boy and girl) ages 6-10 from every culture on the planet and put them on an island, they will play and get along just fine.
We run into problems once the obsolete child becomes an adult.

This not a difficult problem to solve, start telling/training people from young with a simple message...you will die in 80 years so what will you do today to make life enjoyable for all. We will measure you and praise you for enhancing life for all even something as simple as starting a community garden...it does not have to be big BUT INSTEAD we pay people HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS to hit a ball, shoot a puck, or stand in front of a camera.

As the old saying---old men start wars and send young men to die for them.

btw it is the MAJORITY WHITE GOVERNMENT (WHITE MALES) that PANDERED for votes and MONEY to allow things to occur like this.
It is the same types of people that SOLD OUT Canadians by OUTSOURCING jobs...THEY created and perpetuated every man for themselves society so why blame the man at the bottom for trying to get ahead. The man at the bottom is just following the examples set by the man at the top.

The other major problem is most are programmed that my God is better than your God and my group of ppl are the chosen ppl of said better God...there is only one way this works out and Hitler showed us just how that can go as did the Japanese did to the Chinese.

It amazes me given all of the technology we have (photos from space) that we have wars and argue about who is the best...one small piece of space rock will exterminate all of us in the blink of an eye or torture us slowly into oblivion.

We are competing for dirt...and we are supposed to be the apex animals on the planet...lol

How much more enjoyable would life be to wonder a planet free of war and borders? All of the cool places to see, food to eat, music to hear and the best part the different types of yummy women to tell about the vibrational energy of the universe manifestations etc...

Ya. That sounds great. But there a lot of countries and cultures that would not accept me and my culture the way Canada tolerates other cultures. So dream on.
 
I have a solution that's acceptable for Jinster. Why not round up everyone who isn't white and put badges on them to easily identify them. Then by the boat loads lets send them somewhere. They can choose.

If we are low on boats we can start to just shoot them eliminating his problem.

... I am as white as can be. Northern European descent. But my parents came here from somewhere else.

If Rockerguy's great-grandfather helped build the transcontinental railway ... he can legitimately say that he is more Canadian than I am. (And I have no problem with that) Interesting family heirloom, by the way.

The difference between back then, and how it is now, is that there was no safety net. My dad came here on a ship with $50 to his name, and scarcely spoke English. It was up to him to make a go of it. And he did. Months later, he paid for a plane ticket for my mom and newborn sister to join him - a transatlantic flight on a DC-3 was a big deal in the 1950s.

It's absurd that we allow someone into this country and then essentially pay them not to work. And I really don't care WHERE that person comes from, it shouldn't matter.

Charged is Sukhvinder Singh Rai, with impaired driving and over .08. He is scheduled to appear in court in Hamilton on Aug. 22.

At the same time the reason why immigration in Canada is so under control (in the sense of keeping track of where immigrants are and what they are up to) is because of welfare, you also have to remember in most cases for a long while, immigrants are not given a work permit and not allowed to work, so in some cases it is a necessary evil.

Right!
That is how they run their country that is 99.9% the same race and likely 80% the same religion.
People came to Canada, a land that was already diverse.

WE failed to draw the line and allowed the Christmas tree to be renamed the holiday tree.
People should also be made to speak a minimum grade 5 English or French to get their Citizenship.
We should also have people go through a social etiquette course as part of the Citizenship process e.g. don't throw garbage on the street or spit in public keep your outside of the house in accordance etc...

The biggest enabler of that is our welfare system. Also, people wanting to garner votes from such immigrants so they allow an outdated system to exist. You see these families with 10 kids walking behind the mother. Father and mother are both unemployed and living off the child benefits of the kids. My brother who had a full time employee quit because he would make more from child benefits than working. I just hope these bastards don't realize that the kid is worth more if they throw him in front of a car and collect money from insurance. That's a multi-million dollar settlement.

A large portion of the population isn't getting jobs and well it's the newer generation. Honestly they are mostly useless. I employee them and if I have to choose from an immigrant who will work his *** off v. a 20 year who has no idea of responsibility who do I want? There is a large demand for such unskilled labour. It's a job your kids don't want to do responsibly.
 
Any way of finding out the colour of the truck driver that took out the James Snow Pkwy bridge a number of years ago? And who paid for the bridge repairs.

The Board decided to put on hold activities related to the Confucius Institute (non-profit public institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China to promote Chinese language and culture, support Chinese teaching internationally, and facilitate cultural exchanges) that was to open two resource centres in TDSB schools this fall, until TDSB staff can come back with further information on the partnership, staffing, and resources to answer the many concerns raised regarding the terms of the partnership and the nature of the resources that will be used by TDSB students. TDSB staff is expected to come back with this information sometime later in the fall.
 
Recently I was having a great conversation with an older gentleman who had immigrated here 30-40yrs ago. He was telling me back then as part of coming over there were many courses on what it was to be Canadian. Taught Canadian history. And its culture. And yes Canada does have a culture albeit a young culture. It instilled in them a sense of pride to now be part of Canada and to be a Canadian. It was essentially drilled into them.
Alas how the mighty has fallen. With cut backs after cut backs all such courses were terminated. There is no intensive courses designed to promote being Canadian or to learn about our history so you now have many immigrants who just don't care. Its simply about them and only them sending as much money back home as they can. Or bringing as much family as they can here. Canada is being used and abused like an old hooker. And the best part is there are 'consultants' in other countries that know our system better than we do...the loop holes, the grants, etc. I've seen people go into banks with no English whatsoever just enough to say..'i need account. I get money from government'. Say what!!! You just got here!!!

We need to learn our government system as well as others do. I love immigration. I believe it adds to the culture of Canada. I love learning from different perspectives around the world which immigration brings. Just some how we need to weed out the bad apples better than we are doing.

One thing im proud of Canada for. I met a young kid...20 at best. Witnessed his entire family killed. He made it here as a refugee. He finds his new home confusing. Extreme culture shock. Misses his home immensely. But he's working like a dog to make it here. Minimum wage. ****** work. Long hours. As hard as he has it here he still manages to smile because he is safe. And one day when he has his own family he will know their safe too. Seeing him makes me happy of Canada's immigration policies.
 
It is very easy to do what you said in paragraph 1.
They are SUPPOSED to but do not enforce it.
As part of Citizenship process you are supposed to be fluent in English or French but sadly they don't enforce that rule.
Ask yourself how can ppl that do not know English or French pass a test and study for it...hmmm

The Government does not have the guts to draw the line for fear of loosing votes or looking bad.
So the rest of us gets to live with this crap.
Move as far North as you want but it does impact you directly or indirectly (increased taxes etc...)

Ask yourself, how can someone that never paid taxes here deliver a kid here to get OHIP card then move back and only come here for benefits.
It's simple, we run a search and you don't file taxes for 5 years then out you go or cut off benefits unless you prove you paid taxes.
Retired/Seniors exempt of course...but you know what I mean.

WE tax payers are paying for other ppl that do not pay into the system/pool intended for us.
