Muffler Delete, void warranty ?

If I had to hazard a guess, they aren't incredibly clueless..they just don't care that much. They do this stuff all day long..your baby is just another vehicle to them. They don't want to tell you anything that can come back on them or mislead you. I suggest you do get it in writing..and I also suspect that they'll say you can't do anything other than stock if you insist on getting it in writing.

They would not give it to you in writing, and even if they do, I wouldn't think thats worth anything. Almost all the dealer contracts and warranty has a statement to the effect that the dealer isn't allowed to say anything thats inconsistant with the warranty and any statement to that effect can not be relied upon by the consumer.

Therefore, it doesn't matter what the dealer says, you can't hold that against the manufacturer.

You're absolutely right and that was my point..if you ask for anything in writing, it will be the standard warranty. The dealer can't alter the warranty since it's not offered by the dealer. And the dealer certainly won't pay out of their own pocket, in effect, their own warranty.

Having said that, and knowing a bit about how dealerships work, they are the go-between in warranty claims. They can make it easy for you to get things done since they are the yay or nay guys on what you can claim. The manufacturer CAN, and does, investigate dealer warranty claims if they feel they are suspicious or if they have an abnormally high amount of specific types of claims (gravy work).

Just to put it out there. I drove down to the dealership today and asked him and the head mechanic. The answer was it voids my muffler warranty, but everything else is OK. So with that in mind,I'll go ahead with it.

17 HP isn't a bad gain on the top end so, yea, better than spending $1200 on a Borla kit.

Just don't get rid of your stock cans in case you do get noise policed this summer.

You can usually beat the fine if you put the stock cans back on and show you fixed the problem.

Maybe in "the peet" it's not so bad but it's brutal in the GTA.

It's the most popular "cry about my ticket" post on my car forum but like everything, there is no set standard for what is too loud.

In my experience, cops are extremely lenient with american v8's or semi/true exotics with loud exhausts and will generally turn a blind eye to it. Its just the way they are supposed to sound :) I was never hassled, even when I chanced driving to the shop with headers dumped straight out of the collectors to get work done. Drive a civic or other econobox with a big exhaust and you are just asking for a ticket though.

Agreed. The car doesn't need 2 sets of mufflers under there, all for noise elimination and emissions. I see it as a tag, tear it off and let it go the way it's suppose too. Unfortunately Im gonna have to wait till it's out of storage, don't have anything to prop it up and get under it properly. When I do I'll submit a video for all to hear.

Going down the highway will be a treat sitting inside the car.
I had a truck with a "cherry bomb" in it, and the drone inside the cab sucked.

My last truck had an MBRP exhaust on it. It sounded great, wasn't loud enough to get a ticket, but it could turn heads. And best of all, there was almost no added noise inside the truck.
Take a look at their website, They are a local manufacturer in Bracebridge and make one great product. You can save a bit by going straight to them and picking it up. And they are also really well priced, they'll beat Borla for price. Their exhausts are also a straight thru design unlike flowmaster.
When I decide to finally get an exhaust on my new ram, I'll be going with MBRP again.

Just a bit of a heads up for more options from experience.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will check them out for sure. I was looking to just order an X pipe and do the delete, but we will see :-).
