lol...too funny. Wonder why you were down "a quart or so"? Keep using that cheap dino...lol....I run cheap dino oil. Always have. Over 4 decades and 15 bikes the only oil related problem I had was spinning a crank bearing because I was playing in the red zone while down a quart or so.
So buying expensive oil will help me check my oil level more often. Who knew?lol...too funny. Wonder why you were down "a quart or so"? Keep using that cheap dino...lol....
Other than "abuse" I've never had a failure with the cheap dino (cars or bikes)I'm sure all premier brands of oil never had an engine failure if there is no abuse.
I've now done about 700 kms since I put in liquimoly 10w40 full synthetic, and it seems fine so far. Bike shifts identically to how it always has. Whatever issue the other guy had, it's probably unique to his bike.i literally just put liqui molly in one of my bikes lol. whats the big issue?
Motul oil comes in three categories:Looking at the post title and the replies in this thread, still unclear as to the advantages (or disadvantages) of each Motul brand and why Motul and not Liquimoly or other brand?
Yep, a whole bunch of "opinion", with tons and tons of regurgitated marketing BSOil threads are mostly opinion
as previously said, 300v is meant to be run for a race weekend and changed.Motul oil comes in three categories:
5100 - semi-synthetic
7100 - full synthetic
300V - full synthetic race
I use 300V in my GSX-R 1000 with such a high performance, high revving engine. No brainer.
7100 in my thumper (some use 300V (I think it's overkill)).
I was wondering how people were getting along with 5100 which IMO should be perfectly fine for a low revving twin. Turns out the 5100 is perfectly suited to the bike I was putting it in (Aprilia Dorsoduro).
Oil threads are mostly opinion and can go on and on forever. This one was Motul specific, overkill vs underkill, and was time specific (2022) as oil prices spiked and as such Motul prices were going through the roof.
The guy formerly known as Mladin.
Both are Ester blends. 7100 is a single Ester, 300V is a double Ester for race applications. A GSX-R 1000 WOT on the track is in need of friction modifiers that the 300V provides, not detergents as it's changed often. But thanks for your opinion.Yep, a whole bunch of "opinion", with tons and tons of regurgitated marketing BS
and very few facts
lol again...yes and no. It could have helped with not creating low oil levels in the first place IF you had used it from the start because it protects against engine wear better. ;-) But now your oil consumption will only get worse so you'll have to check it even more often. Next time, use syn from the start. ;-)So buying expensive oil will help me check my oil level more often. Who knew?
