Motorcyclist dies in train collision near Caledon

Re: RIP Caledon rider

Rip rider.So sad. :(

I moved here to Caledon From Nova Scotia in Dec. The motorcyclist that died on the Beechgrove Sd Rd train tracks was Stephen Crathern. One of the first people I met here. He left my home for a quick spin on the bike. When he didnt return fast enough we went to look for him. To our terror he was at the tracks in the back of the EHM vehical deceased. I have been scared myself going over those tracks with no signals. Now I am terrified. Our dear freind, and a wonderful husband and the best dad in the world, lost his life because there was no signals on that dam track. If he would of seen lights it may have gave him at least a chance to bale. R.I.P Stev. we love you and will miss you and promise to take care of ur boys and ur wife. :(

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of the friends and family. This is an absolute tragedy.

Rip ......so sad :(

WOW, it's a truly sad story. My son has been to their house for a few birthday parties for their son. I knew his first name but never made the connection till my wife read the story in the papar this evening. He seemed like a great father, keeping his kids busy outdoors on "the toys" ...... winter and summer!
RIP Stephen, you'll be missed.
All our prayers to the family! Sincerely, the Sadlers.

There has been 2 donation cans put out for Stephen. One at the Alton Store and one at the Alton garage. If anyone can help out in any way even a loonie, Stev's wonderfull wife can use all the help she can get. Its going to be a long old hull for her and the boys.

riders stev's funeral is at inglewood comuinity hall sat sept 3rd.. All other riders, i think stev would be honored if somewhere during the time between 11am-2pm you all would start your michines and give them a rev-up in his honor. He went out doing what he loved to do. Ride on Stev. R.I.P

Re: RIP Caledon rider

Mizzthing
My condolences to you and your family. This leaves me with that "Could have been me" feeling in my stomach. With road noise, motor noise and assuming 3/4 or more helmet there would be minimal audible warning as well as the blocked view. Wrong place at the wrong time.
