A man killed in a crash in Vaughan late Wednesday night is at least the third motorcyclist to die in the GTA in about as many weeks.
York Regional Police said the motorcyclist died when he collided with an oncoming pickup truck on Major Mackenzie Drive, at Highway 400, at about 11:35 p.m.
The motorcycle was heading east, while the truck was westbound, said police, who shut down Major Mackenzie Drive between Jane Street and Highway 400 for about seven hours.
The motorcyclist died at the scene, despite efforts to revive him.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash and say it’s too early to determine what factored into the incident.
No other injuries were reported.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call police at 1-866-876-5423 ext. 7704 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Rip rider.

RIP rider. I was there an hour earlier. It's a pretty open piece of road but can get windy on the bridge.

Heard update on news before that the pickup was westbound in the eastbound lane.

Another drunk (cage) driver.

RIP rider

Update:

Police said Etobicoke resident Larry Oliveira, 30, has been charged with impaired driving causing death and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death.

He was scheduled to appear in court for a bail hearing Thursday.

I hope they throw the book at him.

It boggles my mind how many people still drink and drive.

RIP rider.

It boggles my mind how many people still drink and drive.

Indeed.. it should only take 1 time for someone to realize never to do it again. did for me, at least.

RIP rider, condolences to his friends and family...

5 mins from home, scary ****.

RIP rider

There is no hell hot enough for scumbags like this

Sad....RIP rider.

So incredibly sad. My sincere condolances to family and friends.
I was riding in that very neighbourhood less than an hour before just for the sake of riding...
Such a beautiful night for a ride, so tragic that this rider didn't make it home because of the disgusting, selfish act of another.

RIP Rider.
