HOLY COW!!
Last night at 7 pm at avenue road and wilson i couldnt believe my eyes.
a guy on a silver bmw bike was firing paintballs in anger at the back of a white minivan.
the paintball gun (marker) was hidden in the fairing and he was shooting from a trigger extension he had fitted on the handlebar.
i have a paintball gun and they fire a water based ball of paint. the van had dings in it but the glass didnt break.
its a non lethal gun but it must be grounds for what???? assault, vandalism, ????
any lawyers here.
my gopro batteries had just died damn

im sorry i dont have the video.
but what i saw was:
A white minivan stopped with right indicator flashing (not 4 way hazards) in the right hand turn lane going northbound on avenue road. Pedestrians were crossing the intersection. The Van was second in line waiting to turn right onto wilson avenue (as opposed to pulled over to deal with a confrontation....but who knows).
directly behind the van (10 feet) was the bmw (also stopped) firing paintballs at the back of the van. The back van was splattered by dozens of green splotches'
I could here pop, pop, pop and saw quick movement by the riders left hand which was on the grip. i could also hear the rider yelling (F%$%K, etc.).
No one else seemed to be paying much attention.

I dont know for a fact that the paintball marker was hidden in the fairing but i could not see it. It was not in his hand.

I was proceeding north and was into the intersection and moving toward the 401 east ramp before i fully realized what i had seen. The light turned yellow as i was exiting the intersection. There was a lot of traffic in my lane.
The rider appeared unhurt and not in any immediate danger or else i would have gone back.

Domestic problem, road rage who knows? But u gotta wonder about a rider who is prepared like this.

it had crossed my mind too!
but its gotta be wrong on a whole bunch of levels lol

I think everyone has thought of that at some point.....Would be a good wakeup call to some drivers on the road out there. Not that I condone this type behaviour

Assault with a weapon... its a recreational item but like a flare gun as soon as you use it as a weapon its considered the same as a Gun. So its a pretty serious offense
There are also audiences that say you cant fire one inside city limits but that's more by law stuff.

My fz6 has the perfect fairing for dual barrels...
quick strafing run as you switch lanes... Hm...

Paintball guns are for Pussy's, You need a damn rocket launcher lol.

if you are aiming it at a car and not an actual person does it still count? I mean you could say it acts like a horn, you use it to alert people!! ...

Those paintballs are hard/fast enough to break the glass and severely injure someone. Not to mention damage (dents) to a car.

waterbased paint grenades then?

(SO DANGEROUS LOL)

Somewhat related...a colleague of mine at work today informed me that her son was arrested in his house after he pulled out a BB gun in front of some people (King City). I don't know the details of the altercation, but basically the OPP helicopter and squad cars pulled up onto their property, cuffed the young man, and detained him for 24hrs for this stunt. So if you plan on using such a weapon as a BB gun, paintball gun, etc just be prepared to take the full brunt of the law.
Especially in the recent climate of gun violence in the city...the cops may be a bit more hard on such things.

LOL yea i just used my Shotgun to aerate my lawn. The fact is that pinball guns as with BB guns are weapons. They have no restrictions on ownership for the most part however when you use it in an fashion that's against the law it becomes a weapon. I'm not saying i don't understand the feeling of wanting to do this but it gives a bad name to two hobbies. Paintball already has its own PR issues and sport bikers don't need more. Its still assault even if you aiming at the car. Not to mention you have no idea how the person in car will react. You could get yourself injured or someone else. Its a Bad illegal anti social idea. But i will admit that the actual installation of the device is quite impressive

At the least it would be assault with a weapon. Good for a couple of years in the can.

Why the hell would anyone actually take the effort to modify and mount a paint gun on a motorcycle? If you are that paranoid of other drivers doing bad things, mount a GoPro and provide the evidence from that to the cops.

It's highly probable that the reaction of some car driver to being shot at with a paintball gun may be a lot more drastic than you wanted. Using their vehicle to stop the assault would likely be defensible in court. Do you really want the minivan backing into you at speed to stop the assault?

only if they are old or bought at walmart, I personally play paintball and know what a ball/paint must feel and look to cause some serious damage like described above, only a punk with intentions of hurting someone would let the paint ball get that old...

Hang on I play paint ball to and that's BS. I agree the chances of breaking windows or damaging(even dents) is low. But serious injury is absolutely possible. If you dont think so let me shoot you in the face. I will even let you chose the ammo

Are you guys sure they're paintballs? What if he has it set up like tracers with every third round being a ball bearing?

I don't think I'd be spending much time analyzing the ammunition if I was on the receiving end. The rider would be eating rear bumper in a couple of seconds.

I agree there, if anything just carry the gun in full no need to mod the damn thing
