Motorcycle maintenance after rain?

Would love to see some of these guys once they have kids.....and at that certain age of the child the only thing that comes out of their mouth is "WHY" no matter what you tell them, how you tell them or explain it, the second you finish, the very next thing from them is "WHY"

some should just learn to move on to the next thread, I find it's probably just as easy to give an answer, as to type "go search" and typically those that do tell members "go search" is because usually they don't have the answer anyways....if they did, it usually is given to the poster...

ohhh well....

They do this because they are immature, not because they genuinely want to know why.

The general point of us making sarcastic comments or telling OP to go search is to tell him to stop being lazy and do the research himself first. You see kids these days asking people on internet to solve math problems for them. This is not so dissimilar.

You really believe he searched for "motorcycle maintenance after rain" and couldnt find ANY answers?

The way I figure it, is if he did more research he would learn more by default because he wouldnt ONLY get the answer he was looking for. Searching how to maintain bike after rain could very well get him reading how a chain works, then maybe onto an article about the pros and cons of chains, belts, shafts, etc.

Basically it's the reason why I tell my kids to figure it on their own and I help towards the answer instead of giving it to them.

Youngrider, we get that you're new, it's good that you are comfortable enough to ask dumb questions, I hope the best for you.

Much better than some random person on the internet whom I have no trust in, I'd rather be heckled and get my information. Even though its hard to believe I do search the internet for my answers but when I can't really find a definitive answer theres over a hundred of local riders that could help me, why not ask. I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering these things and people probably see my threads and get information from them as well.

Maybe you should just skip the next thread I make if you're so irritated by it, no one forced you to read.

You aren't getting what I'm saying, and I understand your age, I have a son same age as you. To be self reliant, to be able to figure some basic things out yourself, is a much better way to be. What happens if you are somewhere with NO INTERNET ACCES!!! When you fire off 20 threads in a week, you will start getting smart *** replies, some answers dangerously wrong, and you might take some bad advice. This is how internet forums work. We get hyper upstarts on here every year, and they don't always stick around once everyone starts riding you, you just aren't aware of the history.

Go look at your bike, look at the messy chain, probably a good idea to keep it lubed up right after it is ridden in the rain? I'd like you (and every rider) to succeed, and the more you figure out on your own the better.

I don't believe he searched anything, I just think he wanted to be spoon feed, some suck at searching, some don't want to and could care less, and some just want the answer given to them....

what ever it is, I think everyone has a basic right to ask a question, that don't mean everyone needs to give it an answer.....

I ran a site for years, and everyday the similar questions would be asked, and the question was answered each and every time, because we found by giving the answer to that one member, the next time that same member would answer the next new guy......and us old times didn't need to.....

yes kids/children are immature but are also curious and sometimes more often than not want to know "WHY"

.

Let him ask questions. You may have heard the question 100 times but he has only asked it once.

No one complains about Corsana's random trackday threads. He's basically TAFB's replacement trackday thread creator. But let them ask away. That's what this forum is for.

+1. I don't read every thread either....he isn't wasting your time. You are.

I sell it and get a new one if it gets wet. Bearings will fall apart, wiring will short out, frame will rust. Sell it fast before it starts happening. Usually only takes a few days

I'm on my 6th bike in 6 weeks.

Op there's patience involved in motorcycles. That means forums too. Take your time and browse around. A lot of things like this have been covered many times and are usually found as a sticky thread.

I drove my car in the rain today... I thought I'd share to get your thoughts on the matter as I think some dirt got on the passenger side rear quarter panel.

Tell me what to doooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

+1 well said.

OP.

there isn't much to worry about. Rain is ok.

just do a visual inspection as you would after most rides, to make sure nothing in tires and pressure, nothing loose on the bike. check cables and moving parts for wear and rust (that is of course as bike ages, and if you're constantly in the rain)

check the chain to see still have lube on it. if not, do the chain maintenance.

I like to let the bike rest a bit, cool off. then i do a wipe down and cleaning of the bike, but that's me, i like to keep the bike clean and shiny.
always good to keep the mirrors clean for safety as well. along with lights.

and ask away, after all that is what these forums are for. certainly google give answers, but i understand what you mean as you mentioned you want advice from riders who ride in GTA and know from experience. no worries.

Im sure every single question someone had ever asked about a motorcycle could be found in a book or somewhere on the internet, I could read through a ton of books and sites to get 100 different answers depending on different types of bikes, regions and riding styles pick one and pray it works. Most of the time I ask on this forum to double check what I believe is true.

I didn't demand an answer from everyone, simply asked. Those who wish to help out can and those who wish to troll can as well. Won't stop me from trying to get my information.
