My new to me 07 R1 only came with one key (and the master key code!) and I went to a few locksmiths and they said "sorry, can't cut keys for that bike, etc.". I got a PM from a member on here (rstnick) letting me know his dad owns a locksmith shop and can cut bike keys no problem!!

The place:
Lock Clinic Inc.
137 Vaughan Rd. (Bathurst & St. Clair)
416-653-2199

Took my bike there and he cut me a new key! He said he can cut it a bunch of different ways, from the old key, from the master key code, FROM THE IGNITION WITH NO KEY! Crazyness :)

My key cut with the "master code":

Black one is my original Yamaha key, the blue one is the one he cut for me! He has Yamaha blanks in stock that fit most years V-Stars, Roadstars, Roadstar Warriors, R1, R6, R6S, FZR, Royalstar, Venture, FZ1, FZ6, GTS, XJ, Seca, F1, and TTR Models, and the new Raider.

He's got tons of other keys in stock too of course! If he doesn't have yours, just order a blank from the dealer or ebay and bring it to him and he'll cut it for ya!

Super fast while you wait service. If you're allergic to cats you might have a problem.

How much did it cost for the blank and to cut it?
It is $5.50 to cut it using your old key, or $18.50 to cut it using the master key code (both including a regular metal blank). A fancy key like my blue Yamaha one is a bit more $$.

Got 2 keys cut today from the gentleman at the Lock Clinic. Took in the ignition from my SV that I'd lost my only key to, and he had 2 new keys cut for me within about a half an hour. The charge was extremely reasonable, $22.50 + tax to hand decode the lock and cut 2 new keys from it. He said normally there's a code on the actual ignition itself, but it was either missing or worn off so he couldn't just plug a code into his computer. Either way, I'm back up and running, service was fast and friendly.

As Jamie said, he does have a couple cats and a dog at the shop, the cats were very friendly but the dog stayed behind the counter. Sadly I didn't have time to try the jamacian place just down the street, as I was in a rush to get back to Barrie, so no review on that ;)

the cats were very friendly
That's an understatement ;)

Glad he was able to get you fixed up!

and AF4iK, I would pay him a visit and let him know what you need. He did have some transponder keys available, but the programming was up to you iirc.

Good morning Sorry I could not read the code number for you key. Arnold tclarsin@rogers.com
Just so you know Arnold, I don't know of ANY bikes since about year 2000 that have the key code on right the ignition cylinder.

It's great news that you are able to make the key right from the ignition cylinder! I will send some more business your way for sure.

And remember, if you get a 2006-2012 Yamaha R6 (Canadian edition) or 2007-2012 Yamaha R1 (Canadian edition), they have transponders in the keys. If someone needs you to cut them a new key I can disable the receiver on their bike so that your cut keys will work no problem. It costs me nothing to do it (no parts required) so we can work out something if you need to do this. But remember, only Canadian bikes have this problem, so ask if it's Canadian. If you/they don't know how to tell, I can show you.

After 5 years of only having one key for my bike I finally went to the lock clinic today. The only down fall was he didn't have a suzuki black headed key, so I just had to get a plain looking regular key. Ah well the key works great and it only cost me 6 bucks. I was in and out in under 5mins.

Thanks

this week we cut two BMW keys for a bike by code. The owner was satisfied. The duplicate keys where send to hin by Canada Past. Arnold

Does he have any kawasaki keys there?

Also what about luggage keys? I have a givi top box that i bought awhile ago but the damn thing only has 1 key!
