and Spotted Owl is not indigenous to Algonquin Park, they are a Western bird so that would really be something to see.
ohh......................well that changes everything

No not really, it just goes to show that many people haven't taken the time to explore their own country and learn about the things in it.ohh......................well that changes everything
the fact is motorcycling is a leisure activity in North America, not unlike boating, RVing, snowmobiling etc.......so tell me, what d'hell does the government care about leisure activities???

When there's big tourism dollars to be made you may be surprised to see the level of government support for some leisure activities. Look at snowmobiling in the province of Quebec, for one provincial example, or RV'ing across the entire country for a federal example. RV'ing is a HUGE tourist draw ($$$) and there's a reason provincial and federal governments run all sorts of campgrounds and services to cater to them.
Motorcycling just isn't even remotely as big or financially beneficial as a tourist draw as either of those two quick examples so it doesn't get any love.
And You :binky: Can you ride for beans or are you just good at bailing and trash talk?
what does insurance have anything to do with this?? its cold here half the year, most people find it impractical to ride when its cold.....ye, I know "heated gear, dress for the weather, I ride till it snows....blah blah blah" but the average Joe isn't interested in any of that **** and would much rather have his heated seats on while sipping a latte on his way home in mid November/

People talk **** about millennials travelling instead of spending $$ on bikes, but IMO they have it right, get out, see the world, learn new concepts, there is a whole world out there that thinks and lives differently, and many of them have different priorities than the average Canadian or American, and a lot of them live better and happier lives than we do. Travelling (not to be confused with vacationing) is an invaluable experience to someone who is just starting out their life, they are more likely to learn the lessons they didn't learn as bubble wrapped kids while backpacking thru Latin America, Europe or Asia, than they are to learn them at LnL. /rant
now back to warm helmets and pine cones
I would very much enjoy that.Good at that too, we can meet up this summer and I can show you how its done...
I tried to startup a small business offering motorcycle tours through Ontario. I got great response from riders, and several foreign tour operators expressed interest in selling tours. The stumbling block was insurance, rental insurance on a fleet of 12 lightweight sport touring / ADV bikes for a rental agency cost $16K/bike!
This is simply a result of Ontario government regulations and restrictions being too cumbersome for any insurer -- every broker I contacted had to go facility rates.

Good at that too, we can meet up this summer and I can show you how its done...ridden hundreds of group rides with many a track day riders and racers and yet to be impressed on the streets except for the ASSASSIN he's in another stratisphere.
If you guys are up for riding a Trials event or using the events as a day ride destination, here is the tentative 2018 CMA ATA schedule as it now stands:
April 14th & 15th ATA 2 Day - Tweed
May 27th & 28th ECTA 2 Day - Lions Head
June 10th SCR Oshweken
Aug 11th & 12th ATA Sparrow Lake
Aug 18th Arden??? <- probably yes seeing as that is my event
Aug 19th ATA – Tweed
Sept 8th & 9th National – Ioco, BC
Sept 15th & 16th ATA - Kearney
Oct 14th ECTA Fall Trial - Lions Head
I will post it up in the events section once the dates are confirmed.
I rode with the Assassin once. Never again. His skills are impressive and well above mine, but his judgement, not so much. When I ride fast on the streets, its in more appropriate places and in a way that tries not to attract the wrong kind of attention. If Megamaniac aspires to ride like the Assassin, then I'm not interested in riding with him either. I'm out.

Not enough practice off road...nevermind using tree stumps and jumping!

If you go to the show, drop by the SOVT booth. We have videos of beginners on vintage and modern bikes with no big logs or walls.
this is unfortunate, though a short season, we have some fantastic routes to show off our scenery
there probably would be some insurance companies willing to look at a fleet policy
with a realistic risk profile and consummate pricing
all you should really need is public liability
risk to the bikes you could make the renters pay for
accident benefits should be optional for the renter
you could arrange private one-off coverage if they wanted
but they are handcuffed by the Ontario Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act
This pretty well sums up your sorry arse life joined in nov 2017 and 370 posts lololol
