Motorcycle death statistic in GTA

It's hard to know the context, someone compiled the stats, but what was the criteria for capturing them? Maybe it was deaths within 20km of places the author has lived? It's difficult to tell with the limited information available...

I'm sure there has been at least 4 already this year

I guess these are only core GTA, the ones in Markham earlier in April and ones out west of the city probably don't count.

Now I know why there's constantly a police cruiser near the Bayview ramp on DVP in the summer months..... one of the highest fatality spot for motorcycle riders over the years.

Must be good to be a lady, apparently there are never fatal crashes in the GTA involving woman?

Terrible reference in that case.

Do you know of a woman who was killed on a motorcycle in Toronto in that time period?

yep...I've started an excel spreadsheet for this season. Hopefully it stays relatively empty...

My burrito spreadsheet on the other hand is already at a few hundred bucks...

I think to a certain extent some of these fatalities aren't always the car's fault. As an example, yesterday I took this blurry cropped cellphone photo at Kingston & Morningside. The rider obviously doesn't believe in attgatt, while hard to see, those are probably shoes too. Someone who dresses like that is also plausibly someone who will drive it like an idiot like the clown in the video the other day doing a wheelie on the highway here.

Ugh... Not another one of these posts.... Gear for the most part will protect you from road rash and in some cases, broken bones. Although I believe in ATGATT, it doesnt make the person any better or worse of a rider. You cant just group everyone riding squid as that retarded rider you see pulling wheelies in heavy traffic.

Think of it this way. If it were so unbearably hot on a day that you're cooking in your gear, would you ride squid to keep yourself cool or ride in full gear with the possibility of passing out? Regardless, people ride with what they're comfortable with.

From the looks of it, you could be "that idiot" on his/her cellphone while driving....

And you made that leap how.
If anything just the opposite, people are more likely to take it easy because they know they are not wearing proper gear.

Why are you taking pics of guys anyways? Not that there is anything wrong with it if that is your thing.

I took the picture because I thought it would serve as a useful instructive example of someone on a sportbike who would need skin grafts if he was to fall. Also, the bit about how his hands are not on the handlebar almost certainly means he's in neutral, this means the risk is greater because if something was to come up behind him he would have to take the time to shift into first and then move out.

Wear your gear and ride safe.

The guys running shoe may have more experience than you do.

Sounds like there are a lot of sport bike drivers on here. I shake my head at the way you guys drive, and say to myself every time I am out, no wonder my insurance company will not insure a sport bike.
