Motogp 2013

I like Rea and there have been strong rumours about him moving up... However, He didn't set the world on fire when he filled in for Casey last year. I can't see Honda putting him on anything other than their new production racer.

As for Hayden, he'd be crazy to swing a leg over anything that isn't a proven winner.

With Dorna controlling both WSBK and MotoGP, I wonder if both series will continue to exist, especially given the fact that the non-MSMA category in MotoGP is essentially WSBK on steroids.

WSBK will be neutered so there is still a gap in performance.

I think there is a place for both series, just as there is a place for both F1 and any other sort of racing. The non-MSMA bikes are going to be less WSBK bikes than they are now, as most of them will be Honda/Yamaha models of the M1 and RCV.

Personally, I think that the WSBK series should try to move their bikes closer to what production bikes are. That should make the bikes a bit cheaper to race, since instead of a bike costing $500,000, it should only cost closer to $50,000.

Well, I don't know what the expectation was, exactly. He showed up to ride a bike he had never ridden before, on tires he had never ridden before, and was there just to bring the bike home, basically. His goal wasn't to win races. I think that given that he finished just behind Bautista is pretty good. He also didn't crash the bike at all (from what I remember). But, I do agree that a Honda 'Production Racer' thing would be a good idea for him to get his foot in the door.

I agree with this. I am a Hayden fan, and mostly because he has a great work ethic and personality. I'd hate to see him spend another few years on a bike that is behind others (like he has with Ducati), can't be good for his own confidence either.

Bought our tickets yesterday!

The gap really isn't what it used to be.

2012 British Grand Prix Pole: 2:03.303
Alvaro Bautista - Honda RC213V

2013 WSBK Great Britain Q3 Fastest Lap: 2:03.3
Tom Sykes - Kawasaki ZX-10R

Here comes the neutering I was talking about. Rumour has it that Aprilia has gone through as many as 80 engines in the past. The new regs only allow 8.

An EVO class? Leave it to Dorna...

As far as engines go, Aprilia has already blown up 5 or 6 engine in races already this season. I can't imagine how they'll deal with an 8 engine limit. I think it is a good idea though.

They'll have to detune the engines. They use the same engine in MotoGP CRT bikes, but it has been detuned for longevity. I imagine they'll do something similar. BMW and Kawi haven't been doing much better, engine-wise. The Hondas have been good, but much generally slower.

Marquez on pole by half a second. What a beast.

I'm at the GP this weekend. Seeing Marquez's lean in person yesterday was simply mindblowing.

I agree MM to watch in person is amazing! What a talent!!!

Also seeing how smooth JL is incredible.

If MM can keep the shiny side up, I think he can win for sure as he has been dominating all weekend.

There are rumours regarding Hayden in talks with LCR, he hasn't addressed anything specific other than there will be 'big changes' for next year.

Excited for the races today!

I'm going to guess that today's results for 1st through 5th is pretty much what the championship will look like end season.
