Moto Guzzi or Ducati?

ill show you how you do dirt on a scrambler
come and watch ;)
It's called "scrambler" for a reason!

I don't need anybody to try and show me dirt on a scrambler. With 36 years of racing/riding dirt, nobody will convince me that bike is a dirtbike. Try an exc500, or a 300xcw, that's a dirtbike.
Edit: the reason they call it a "scrambler" is nostalgia. Takes old guys back to the days when dirtbikes didn't exist...

dude I know what dirt bikes are.
you just came at me saying "EVEN A LTTLE BIT OF DIRT,R U KIDDIG"?" ... I never said i'm gonna sign up for red bull x-fighters with it! LOL but I can definitely take the scrambler off-road and let it rip.

so when are you signing up for x-fighters? lol

Personally I wouldn't take it into gravel, it's just too damn pretty. Different strokes for different folks...

High five!!
Plastic tanks work if they're built right. I could provide examples but then I'd just be bragging about all my non-deformed plastic fuel tanks. I would double check if Moto Guzzi has figured it out. Maybe they're trying to cheat people with sub standard gas tanks. Ha ha, once you have the bike what are going to do? They're across the ocean in Italy counting the money, sucka born every day.

Guzzi has it figured out on plastic tanks, same guy making the tank in Mondello also make plastic demi jons for the wine business. Lots of alcohol in that vino and no deformed jugs. Italian engineering at its finest.

Id equate going offroad mudding with a Duc scrambler like taking the winter Ferrari course at Mt. Tremblant. You could, and would probably have fun, but it could get spendy.

lmao i love this MotoGeo dude. he has absolutely 0 negatives to say bout every bike he rides! LOL

Former Isle of Man TT racer.

Also check out RideApart for his earlier work. MotoGeo is golden though, especially the adventure section.

Cool thread...

Interesting choices and both are nice bikes. I am a fan of classic, naked bikes as well and when I saw the Ducati Scrambler I was intrigued.

I think I like the Icon version the best:

The Full Throttle is pretty cool too!

Customization options do seem limited at this point but there are some stuff already available:

I also like the FZ09 but that is far from classic looking.

The Bolt would make a great bike as well.

i think i'm crossing the bolt out... it's got a 12 litre tank! lol definitely not a tourer! right now the most economic choice is the V7.... it also is the smartest and what makes most sense... my girlfriend loves BASIC bikes. the Guzzi is JUST that... it's also a versatile motorcycle. at this moment i am really loving this.. i also found a very awesome scrambler kit for it from Italy i believe.... SO FF****IN EXCITED!!! lol.. check it:

I go to Two Wheel in Guelph a lot and they have a nice selection of V7s there. They are a pretty sweet bike. Lots of recent reviews seem to ***** about the transmission being notchy/clunky/whatever. Not sure if there is anything to this since I have never ridden a 'Guzzi; let alone a V7.

Hopefully she can get some kind of test ride to see if it is for her. It seems to tick all of the boxes for what she is looking for and the large fuel tank is just the icing on the cake!

The price point might be wrong and it might be too much of a cruiser... Dang though the new Indian Scout is a sweet looking ride...

Personally I like the Guzzi over the Duc. I've wanted a V7 for a few years now and I don't care if it's rather underpowered as I think it looks brilliant and has tons of character.

Even the Griso is underpowered. The V7 might as well have a snowblower attachment.

Motorcycling is not about power only
you don't get it
the griso has 110 HP with 80 ftlbs of torque
how the hell is it underpowered?
That's why you don't smoke at night before replying to a thread! Lol
