Well done, big thumbs up. Are the old bickles dead? It would be interesting to add them to the comparison even if you don't have access to the expensive stuff and use the IR gun only.
 
Yeah they barely hits 50c on the rear. A comprehensive test of all makes would have been nice to do
 
Thank you for the write-up, I enjoyed reading it. It's almost impossible to find proper stats/methodology in testing things like tire warmers.

Maxxem is still making warmers, in Canada he sells through his website and Pro6. He is still using the same heating elements as the older warmers since they are proven reliable. I don't believe I've seen people using warmers older than 6 years that aren't a set of Bickle/Maxxem and are used for 15+ days a year.

He has mentioned to me in the past that the best thermostats he can source are only good for about 100,000 cycles, or 3-4 seasons of track. If the warmers are rated for 80c, after the thermostat is spent it will dip down and stabalize at around 50-60c. Having Maxxem replace the thermostats could give old warmers a bit more usable life.
 
I've just picked up some SVRacingParts warmers, so far so good, I am very happy with them. 3 heats settings is a nice touch. Hard to pass up at $270 a set, still have 3 available if anyone is interested.

I have traditionally done a less technical review of my tire warmers at end of season.

My informal test was to find issues.

This practice allowed me to discover that tire warmers were not all equal and I would start labelling sets of warmers as "A" set or "B" set depending on their ability.

Its also where I first discovered that most sets of warmers suffer with a fairly consistent 20C deficit at or near the wrapover section.
