More passanger friendly bikes

Was thinking of selling my fz09 and moving to something the gf and I might find a little more comfortable. I love it solo around town and day trips even with the weakish suspension, its a ton of fun. Just alot less with the GF on the back. Looking for recommendations on bikes that are still fun to ride more spirited solo while still being kind of low and not a cruiser, im not sure if the FJ09 or something similar would make sense to go to or how ergonomically different it is for a passenger.

Not sure if I would classify it as fun to ride, but my VStrom 650 was bought with a big need to be able to ride with my wife on the back. She can do 8hr days on the bike without too much issue. We've gone out to Lake Placid, Mont Tremblant and Manitoulin Island for some fun trips.

For solo riding it does the job, but I often run out of throttle when exiting a corner. You may be underwhelmed coming from the FZ09 in this regard. My next bike must be a good 2up bike as well, but will be a bit more powerful.

What is your budget?

I had a first gen FZ1 many years ago that the wife liked. She got on the back of the FZ09 once and that was enough for her.

When you say less fun with 2 up, are you referring to suspension? Wind protection? Ergos?

If its just suspension then a visit to accelerated technologies and a new rear shock would fix the issue and transform the bike, and will be much cheaper than a new bike.

You can look at the new and heavily upgraded from the factory Tracer GT, by my understanding the suspension on the older FJ's still isnt all that great

There are many options out there, your budget would clarify even further

*THIS*.
Motor is brilliant. you want even more bang? get the ECU reflashed. Yamaha has it pretty darn neutered the way it is.

My wife has been on the back with and without a backrest and now demands to always have one. Just makes her feel more secure and comfortable back there. An added Ducati (Givi) top box with backrest attached does the trick for my bike.

That's very true, the last few bikes I've owned have sported a top box installed.

Keep the FZ-09 and get her one of her own!

Failing that, whatever you get, make sure you get something with a remote preload adjuster to save breaking out the preload wrench and bashing your knuckles every time you make a change...

Wingboy is spot on. Squeeze would nod off on the back of the Wing.
I sold the Wing before I got my new hip and now I too need something 2up friendly with lots of storage that's more fun than the Wing.
Why do all the ADV bikes have a pillion that looks like an after thought?

You weren't riding it hard enough.

you want a 1st generation FZ1, they are EXTREMELY comfortable and its a literbike with tons of power. Look at the reviews!

(I'm also selling one, but even if I wasn't I'd still recommend it! <3)

welcome to the forums

Lol denice that was brutal.

2 things already mentioned.

1st fix is to look into upgrading the suspension, Sharrard is awesome

2nd fix is to for her to ride her own bike

Or buy another one that you still may have to set up. Or a couch (aka Goldwing).

I'd try door #1 first

Fixed

Buy a wing if you are buying it for the passenger, buy a BMW if you are buying it for the rider to haul around a passenger and BMW luggage is as good as any.

The versys 1000 is a surprisingly good two up ride. Plus it has that sweet smooth i4.
