Seems like everyone here has a similar mind set spend more time on the 390 with that being said next season I will be trying to get on track with a training course so I can learn better body positioning, bike feel, what to do in the event of upsets so that I can become an overall better rider. I finally got my 390 out to the twisties the last couple of weeks and honestly it’s been a blast and has taught me a lot but I think I wanna throw at least another season or 2 of riding on it before I upgrade. I still very much love this bike and I don’t think I’ll have any issues with spending more time on it

Also I want to apologize if any of my previous responses seemed ignorant or that I wasn’t listening to anyone I know that a large majority of you guys have more ride than I’ll have in the next 5 years under your belts and you all seemed to care about 2 main things me becoming a better rider and my general safety which I do really appreciate it was definitely too ambitious of me to think about upgrading to a bigger bike when I haven’t even begun to learn more advanced stuff on my current one

Currently pulled over in a parking lot to ride this message I’m gonna try and push past 6000km before end of season currently at 4895 so if any chill riders wanna hang let me know

Don't feel bad about being too excited.

The old grizzled riders offering advice were once in your shoes, their enthusiasm was like yours, we all wanted to upgrade to soon. Some got lucky, some learned hard lessons that led to an early exit.

Glad you're man enough to evaluate advice. In 20 years you'll be handing your experience down to new riders.

I hope I’ll be able to pass down experience at that point my main goal is to just try and learn as much as I can so that I can be one of those guys 20-30 years down the road handing out advice

I think a little of what happened in the other thread was me not wording stuff in the best way I’m kinda tone deaf I am autistic and don’t always process how my sentences sound before I say them though I won’t blame it all on that but I really was taking in everyone’s advice

You are now heading in the right direction. Use the winter to plan which advanced riding courses you take next year. Exposing yourself to different riding conditions is a great way to learn. The dirt course is a good suggestion. Also think about RACER5 or something similar.

As for the autistic thing ... you seem to be doing fine. At the racetrack a few weeks ago, it was pointed out that most of us must have a screw loose for participating in this sort of thing ... and I don't exclude myself from that.

I'm a Whitby guy also, next weekend i'm racing but providing the weather is good we can do a weekend street ride sometime in October.

Definitely would love to go for a ride sometime always looking to meet experienced riders to learn from

Racer5 was recommended to me by another rider friend of mine and I’m definitely gonna be looking into them. Also I’m considered high functioning most people can’t tell but that usually gets me in **** when it comes to my bluntness or how I speak lmao

I would not be surprised if research one day shows that the track crowd has a somewhat higher than average weighting on the autistic and ADHD spectrums. You'll fit right in. It's one of those environments where task hyperfocus and subject fixation are not just beneficial, they are almost required in order to perform well. The experience of being 100% focused on track is also highly rewarding.

Ngl this is exactly why I love riding so much. My favourite tasks are the ones where I hyper focus to the point of having no external thoughts besides the task at hand and things relating to it.
