More ducati stupidity.

LOC is an ok way to finance a bike if you must finance, dealer finance unless its a real special is pretty costly. Its different for everyone but I cant imagine coughing 11-12% or more at dealer rates. But some folks are carrying 21% credit cards so ...... life is different for everyone.

I have only financed a bike once kawi had a 0% for 6 months deal.

I too was a mostly a Japanese bike guy for over 40 years, mostly Hondas. Never, ever thought I would own a Duc. 4 years ago, I realized I was getting too old for my CBR1000, so I went on a search. I needed a lighter cruiser style bike that you sit "in" not on top. It could not be heavy like most cruisers and it had to have some power (I wasn't quite that old) I was at GP Bikes and Jeremy recommended I take the Diavel out for a ride. A Ducati, I said, I will never own a Ducati! He insisted that I take it for a ride. All the crap that I heard about Ducati, so I took it for a ride. I could not believe how much I liked riding it. I'm not a fan of v-twin bikes, but this thing was really nice to ride, so I bought one. My friends thought I had lost my mind, all of them had Japanese bikes. In the last couple of years 2 of my friends have switched over to Ducati's and they love them. What can I say, I like Ducati now.

This is interesting to me as I am in similar circumstances. I have never liked riding a twin of any sort but I have never ridden a Duc so maybe I should try one ..... just for fun?

V twins > Parallel twins.

Do it, why not? Seems that GP BIkes is reasonably amenable to riders taking test rides, so go ask! (Maybe not today, though)

Which twin-cylinder bikes have you ridden in the past?

Re V-twins vs parallel twins, I wouldn't make a blanket statement about them - there is a firing-sequence dependence that you would never know by looking at the bike. The Yamaha FZ-07 / MT-07 is a parallel twin with 90-degree offset crank pins ... it has the same firing sequence as a 90-degree V-twin. (Separation between firings is 270 - 450 - 270 - 450 etc). The KTM 790 is something like that although the angle is slightly different. The even-firing engines (360-degree crank, e.g. BMW F800 series) and the 180-degree-crank engines (most Kawasaki twins, and my Yamaha R3) usually sound like a shop air compressor with the stock exhaust, and like a bomb going off with an open aftermarket exhaust. For my R3 (which has a 180-degree crank), I was tipped off to use a long, quiet muffler ... I don't mind it.
