I would say so. The "Sportbike" class needs to morph away from 4-cylinder 600cc sport bikes, which are disappearing from the market. The addition of the Yamaha 900cc triples makes sense. The horsepower bump in Superbike comes along with higher power ratings from manufacturers. (I'm not sure, but the Ducati Panigale V4 might be legal this year ... the V2 is now legal in Sportbike.) Allowing R3 riders to do certain airbox mods (which I already knew about) makes sense to catch up somewhat to the Ninja 400.

There were a few that had that open airbox sound. That is for sure.
