Monster 620 - girl wants to upgrade from CBR125R

what's with the "girl wants to upgrade" thing??

Chickergonomics and other girly things I know nothing about?

PS a couple people have mentioned comfort on longer rides. I realise there are better options out there, but I'm guessing vs. a CBR125R this would still be an improvement on highways?
We're considering a pair of handlebar risers for $30 just to get her a little more upright.

how about "rider wants to upgrade"??

Monsters are pretty comfortable, in my opinion and my wife loved it, she was ****** when I traded it for the 919 :) but she got used to that and loved it too. She found it more comfortable and it had quite a bit more power. We went that way for better/closer service. Where we lived at the time, it was a 1.5hr drive to the nearest person who would look at the Duc.

Mechanically, the Monster 620 isn't very high-tech. The motor is air-cooled, 2-valves. If you take it in for service, new belts and valve check will be the costliest procedures. You can learn how to change belts easily, there are videos on Youtube. Anything else that's not motor-related can be performed by any shop. I've seen several Monsters at Tom's Cyclewerx this season. It's got way more juice than a CBR125 but no powerhouse compared to sportbikes, I'd say it's on par performancewise with a Sportster. Best of all it's no longer on the Jevco surcharge list.
