Monday July 8th - careful out there

Who has power report in - large chunks of Toronto and Mississauga are out.

By The Canadian Press on July 8, 2013.

TORONTO – Heavy rains have caused power outages across the Greater Toronto Area, including much of Mississauga, and are causing a commuter nightmare with parts of major highways flooded and subway stations closed.

Enersource says about 80 per cent of Mississauga, with a population of more than 700,000, is without power.

Toronto Hydro says 6,000 customers in west Toronto are without power, while 29,000 customers in Markham and Richmond Hill have also lost their electricity, as have some in central Newmarket.

Environment Canada says total rainfall amounts could top 75 millimetres as the storm moved from Mississauga and Brampton eastward through Markham, Richmond Hill and Toronto.

The Don Valley Parkway has been partly closed while provincial police warn drivers to steer clear of parts of Highways 427, 401 and 27, all due to flooding.

The Toronto Transit Commission stopped all subways due to signal and power issues throughout the city.

Drivers are advised to use caution as fast-moving water can flood roads and wash away vehicles.

I DID!

I need to review my cam footage to see if there is anything cool/scary lol My camera had more visibility than my eyes did.

^
Holy ****, can someone find out who that is? He's my new crazy friend. I thought I was the only one lol

I had to escape from my condo building(no water no electricity) so I took my bike and rode over to my parents in Scarborough filtering and riding on sidewalks. Otherwise I would've been stuck for hours in traffic. It felt like a scene from Mad Max :)

Anything below Britannia in Sauga seems to be down.

I got home just as this started to hit. Glad that I got a bad feeling, this morning, and caged it instead of riding. Reports say that 3/4 of Mississauga is dark. DVP, Lakeshore, Bayview Extension, and supposedly 427 are under water though I'm leery about the last report, as the pictures didn't look like any section of 427 that I recognized. Anyione who is out there, on a bike, should just stay where they are for now.

West Oakville has power.
Trying to figure closest spot for fuel.
Might hit a place in Milton to sit it out - good food, free wifi and power outlets :D

G-TOWN has power for now, raining like crazy though

Man, that is crazy stuff going on up there for you guys in Toronto. I'm totally the kind of person that would have gotten caught in it. Luckily I live in London and just had to BBQ a steak in the rain.

Has the flooding subsided yet??

Oh and yes, I literally laughed hard out loud at Retrogrouch's post.

Man I just missed the storm! When I left work the roads were wet. I rushed home to beat the big black clouds floating on top of me. It just started pouring when I got in my condo. I got lucky.
