I wanted to go to GP Bikes in Whitby to try out some gear before I purchase it online. Was anyone planning anything or is interested in going?

or does anyone know a local dealership where I can try out the Alpinestars line, etc?

You can try riders choice in Mississauga

support local businesses!!!!

I bought an Alpinestars suit at GP that actually turned out to be cheaper then motorcycle superstore after they gave me 50 bucks off for spending over 1000. I like to support local businesses if their prices are close and they have what I want. I understand buying online if you want/need something they don't have on hand or if they are charging a lot more. Check out what they have and compare prices if its what you want and the price is close, support a local business.

Go to kahuna, they got some A* jackets. I was at GPbikes couple of weeks ago and they haven't got many A*
I have been trying to get an A* jacket myself for the last couple of weeks.

I'd like to. I ordered an Icon Variant helmet from the States for $70 cheaper and free shipping. Same helmet is priced at $409 at all local dealers. of course that's plus tax and gas.

dont waste a shops time and stink up leathers someone might buy with your bad attitude please

It's not that I have bad attitude. I want to get accurate sizes and I'll be riding there. I don't have the luggage to carry any new gear or store my old ones on the trip back - so shopping online is more convenient. Plus, i'm sure you've never worked in a retail store. Clothing is tried on dozens of times before it's eventually bought by someone.

I'll check out Kahuna and Rider's Choice. Thanks.

+1 ... Seriously!

See if you can get the same service from an online store vs. a place like GP Bikes or Rider's Choice.
Worth the little bit of extra $ IMO.

I was so glad to get a new suit from the back in the original plastic bag and bubble wrap.

you are still a time waster and I hope many people waste your time as well. Trying stuff on is one thing, trying it on to get a proper size and buy elsewhere isn't what happens in retail stores. The fact that your brain says its ok to do this shows you have 0 morals or decency.

OP, I agree with all replies to your post.....you are a time waster!
McBride family(Riders Choice)has been supporting Toronto's motorcycle community since 1909!
In today's tough economic times, they need our support more than ever. Their prices are always fair, sometimes better than online. McBride family has earned my trust long time ago, I bought my first motorcycle in Canada from them, and I'll buy my last piece of motorcycle gear there also!
Please, don't go there to waste their time!
For guys like you.....Google is your friend.....

I'm all for supporting local businesses, but I also don't like giving money to horrible human beings.

....and John at Riders Choice falls neatly into that category.

It's worth the drive to GP or Royal Distributing.

I try not to judge the book by its cover...Maybe, that's why I've had an opportunity to get to know "The Other John"...and I'm glad that I did.
I have to agree, GP Bikes is another great local business...I also shop there! Of course, Bob Graham(former McBride's employee) is always ready to help me, while I'm there. For some strange reason, it seems that "McBride Cycle" always comes up in our conversations!? Coincidence? I think not!

I've had good experiences at gp that's for sure.. Riders choice not so much

OP if you are concerned about how to get your purchase back home. You can always ask them to deliver it. I think if if you spend a certain amount delivery may be free. This way you are supporting a local store, and still getting it delivered to your home. GP Bikes also has a good web online site.

GP Bikes will ship you your in store purchase for free. They also have their own web store now.

I just bought a lot of gear from GP > $1000 worth and they gave me 20% off because it was a large purchase. Riders choice will give you discounts if you pay cash. Its came out considerably cheaper than purchasing online.
