Mechanic Warning!! Ernie

as it turns out, ernie doesn't know much about cv carbs. to suggest that freak needed to buy new carbs is just theft plus charging him for screwing the bike up. the hoses weren't even close to being right, now i wonder about the valve adjustment. this was an easy fix.

Is it you who fixed my Carbs at Rosey Toes....

I've dealt with Ernie in the past and he's always done good work on my R6. Was recommended to me by Flying Squirrel last year and brought him a bike that had been sitting for 2 years and he did a complete tune up (first gen R6, which is also carb'ed), now my 14yr old bike is running like brand new. Guess not everyone had the same experience dealing with him as I did, but seems to me that with all the customer bikes he had waiting around, many folks also felt that he does good work. Just my $0.02

Certainly...i think he messed it up and couldn't figure out the issue, my problem was he should have not wasted my time and told me to my face that i don't know what i did but i cant fix it, take it to someone else and ill help with the cost. He kept it for weeks, didn't fix it, took the money, didn't return anything even when i asked a modest 50-80$, when it costed me 200$ and i had already paid him 340$. A bit of honesty on his part could have diffused the tension. Ah well, i hope he learns from it.

careful about tooting your own horn, as a wrench you should know we all make mistakes now and then.
Making mistakes is understandable, but not owning up to it leaves me to wonder about Ernie's integrity. Based on responses in this thread, it seems he is a person who does good work most of the time, but when he slips you will be left high and dry.

I've had mechanics who didn't charge me for work on my car because they couldn't solve the problem. To me that is how Freak should have been treated.
