Mars mission one

I think scientists are thinking differently. We are like parasites on earth and we suck all the resources out. Sooner or later we might need a new planet. Coupled by the idea that we constantly flying in a debris of meteors it's all a matter of chance before we get hit by another huge meteorite. One like what became of the dinosaurs. This happens every few thousand years, we don't want humanity to become extinct

I don't get the fascination. If you want to live in an arid environment, with dust storms, and mountains go live in the Gobi desert, you won't even need an uncomfortable space suit. And if you want to spend 8 months getting there, but a camel, it's cheaper than a space ship. I guarantee all the candidates haven't seen everything that the earth has to offer, but want to jump ship to live (die) on a $#!thole like Mars...morons.

You're right. You don't get the fascination.

Let's have a chat. The pure idea of Mars One makes gives the fuzzies. Excuse my capital letters, I just get excited talking about space travel.

The fascination? It's the glory! To be the first person to travel to, step on, and even LIVE on Mars. Another planet! We could FINALLY say that life exists on other planets! ALIENS! (Us or them, it doesn't matter!)

And it's not about living in an arid environment with dust storms and mountains. It's about living on ANOTHER PLANET! The early pioneers traveled by foot. Then by animal, these precious camels and horses. With the advancement of technology, we found other deserts, marshes, forests and plains to visit and explore by land, water and air. Now we take our latest advancements, FREAKIN SPACE SHIPS, and pioneer life on another PLANET!

And while your guarantee may be solid, I GUARANTEE that EVERY PERSON ON THIS PLANET has seen more of Earth than they have of Mars.

It wouldn't be a glamorous life, but it would damn glorious.

I did not know that ^

**** this....not nearly enough good looking women to go around once they're up there. Then they'll be sitting with wrinkly old hags and their own ***** in their hands.

They may have seen more square footage, but not more of what each planet has to offer. Mars: red, dusty, rocky, and arid....everywhere on the planet. Earth: rainforests, beaches, oceans, mountains, plateaus, savannahs, swamps, marshes, etc. And those are only geography, when you take passed civilizations into account the things to see on earth are endless.

This is another dumb-@55ed human idea just like putting a golf course in a desert, except bigger, and more expensive. Instead of wasting billions on crap like this (trying to make an inhospitable PLANET hospitable), why not stop f***ing up the hospitable planet that we have? Mind-blowing, I know.

We could do both, but there's too much money to be made fuking up Earth, so that's not going to stop. Human greed.
