M2 Expiring But DriveTest Centres Closed

My M2 license expired end of April but there hasn’t been a location open due to obvious reasons to take the M test since March. Is anyone in the same situation and have any info on this?

You should be valid. Any expiry dates after a certain date (mid-March or so) have been extended. Not sure how they are going to deal with it at the back end when you have a huge backlog. My guess is they will end up pushing bike licences out a year as it may be late in the season before they get testing up to speed.

This 100%.

My wife was supposed to go for her full M this summer but she'll probably push it out to next year at this point as the Drivetest situation is going to be a mess moving forward.

take a course, 8 hour day and done. not bad to have the instructor look over your shoulder and target your bad habits either.

Hmmmm... having her do an M2 exit through further education is a great idea actually - will plan to do exactly that.

i'd recommend @GoldieTiger with Learning Curves, shameless plug for an awesome rider and teacher. I believe she only does the course out on the eastern side of the GTA though.
 
I did the M2 Exit test with learning curves, and my dad it it as-well a week or 2 later. I just did it to avoid the drive test chaos, and this was last year October.

i was just thinking about that actually while washing the dishes before PP replied.

The chaos at DriveTest was already abysmal, imagine going now with restrictions? No thank you.

I saw lots of people saying spots were booked way in advance, then some failed over minor things, then had to wait again. At learning curves one of the students was in this boat, he failed the test with the ministry, and then booked with LC, 2 days before his license expired. I did learn alot,

1. 90% of riders are summer only folks and not prepared, I did it late October and it was chilly, almost everyone showed up in the morning already frozen and shivering. The other instructor lost a few students cause they said it was too cold to ride in the morning, it was only around 8-10c, and by afternoon a sunny 15c+

2. No one new what an ADV bike was, or that there are more comfortable and powerful bikes other than cruisers.

3. Vancouver is riders paradise, I forget the instructors name though he had a new Africa Twin and was retiring there. Seeing him ride and speaking with him, and how he still rides and caters he's life along that, was a positive experience.

4. Learn't about group riding and dynamics.
 
It's going to get interesting as courses usually start booking in January, so there may be a backlog of people who booked a course for April or May, but haven't asked for a refund yet.

I think most students rescheduled. Normally half way through the year the courses end up being half the size if not smaller, so I suspect well just end up running full jam the rest of the year. Works for me as teaching is my racing budget

But when do you reschedule for? Nobody currently knows when it will actually open up.
Here there is a two layer queue. First in line are the people who have already paid, second are the people who have signed up to a waiting list.
 
I miss teaching - lots of great, positive experiences teaching new and seasoned riders. Only stopped because new day job was too involved.

I took the M course at Humber 12 yrs ago and taking that course is what got me thinking about teaching. If you aren't tight on cash, taking the M course is a great way to get rid of any bad habits that have slowly built up.
