Not going to lie, I would still buy my Super Duke and put a screen on it over the inline 4s. They're just not as exciting. I've only ridden an older (2016?) S1000R but it left me with numb hands and it just didn't give me the immersive experience that even my old Tuono did, despite its power deficit. I was never more happy to get back on the old twin, at least the vibrations add character rather than make my hands and feet numb.

But, luckily for all of us, they make different kinds and different brands of bike and if this XR is your jam I can say that the one thing that the BMW did is feel very lively from the perspective of the chassis... I doubt they've done anything to hurt that. You can definitely ride these things all day and pretty well anywhere.

I should have also said that if touring is your plan, you can get all the baggage etc. from the Adventure and almost all of it will fit the Super Duke. OEM hard and softbags, etc. etc. to turn it into a GT-style bike. There's also the GT and the Adventure versions, too, but they don't have the raucous version of the LC8 engine that the R gets (they're better for crawling down gravel roads, however).

the GT has identical ergos as the R, but an additional 50 lbs, and probably a different tune/cams to give it a more 'tame' feel I suspect.
