M Test Soon;) Advice?????

Obey the speed limit, use signals, shoulder check in a noticeable way. If you are passing a playground, look at it to check for kids, same goes for schools or other landmarks. When ramping on to a highway, signal early and let it flash for a while before making your lane change.

Good luck!

Find the M2 exit thread in this forum, it has a copy of the checklist the inspector uses, that will tell you all the things he looks for, go out a few times and practice following all those ridiculous rules (it is hard work and if I rode like that all the time I would probably already be smacked behind a tractor trailer but anyways)

Remember to put your hazard lights on when you do the side road stop. make sure not to shift while making a left on a traffic light, make sure you get up to the speed limit in the highway and don't ride under it (remember your speedo reads aprox 10% less than their car) etc, it is all in the checklist

Good luck

Here is the exact route.

i took it in Brampton after watching this it was so simple. Like everyone said, exaggerate your head movements on blind spot checks and when you're crossing intersections. Also watch the speed limit. Not too fast. Not too slow.

My my test look 15 mins.

Literally up the 410 to Clark blvd...back on 410 to steeles...right on Kennedy rd....left on to street with flashing red light...through the neighborhood. ...emergency stop....back to steeles...and then back to test centre. THATS IT!

good luck!

Thank you so much :D Everyone's advise is great...

My bike doesn't have them.. I searched that out first because when I couldn't find them I was stressing and not booking my test. Then I find out that in the year for my bike they didn't put them on . Apperently the people who test us know this? Lets hope so for my sake ? lol

If your bike has four-way flashers you are required to use them at the roadside stop. If your bike does not have them then don't worry about it. It's only a markable error if you fail to use them at the roadside stop. Also prior to your test ask the examiner if they require you to to fully dismount the motorcycle. They may just ask you to stand up with hands in the air once the bike is parked and in neutral.

As for routes - don't worry! Ride your ride. Exaggerate head movements - don't stop scanning your environment, pay attention to lane positioning; speed; following distance.

It really isn't hard. Try not to overthink it!

I just did my test at Aurora. I made seven errors. 4 were related to to not looking at hazards or both sides of an intersection. 2 were not being fast enough on the highway. My speedo actually said 120km/h so I let off the gas once I merged with the left lane.

The one error I knew I made was I forgot to turn off my signal after making a left turn. I was too busy checking my mirrors to make sure their car got through, otherwise I was going to pull over to the side and wait for them.

Funny thing, on my way there - I saw a guy doing his test on boomington and a blue car was behind it. I remember asking myself if that was the test car - sure enough it was. lol.

They use roads and highways.

What is the point of familiarizing yourself with the route before hand?

Why so grumpy dude? No one forces you to read or answer!
Knowing the general area they take you would just help calm your nerves, no biggy.

Check your Blindspots !! Twice Left, Twice Right at intersections. Don't change gears through intersection. Rest is in the Sticky.

Make sure you are blatantly in the correct tire track. I got dinged for being too close to centre even though it was quite clear I was moving there to avoid tar snakes (i pointed at them as a road hazard). I did not, however, get dinged for keeping up with traffic on the hwy (doing 120 km/h) and losing them twice during the test.

I heard that some guys put a stripe in the middle of their helmet, so that when you exaggerate your head movements, (and you really should), it's super noticeable.
Otherwise, two hands on the wheel and no using your cell.

Good luck.
I put two strips of green painters tape on the back of my helmet (either side). Made head movement obvious.

Weird, i see so many people do this lately, i guess, everyone got spoiled with car turn signal behavior.

When I first started to ride, I caught myself doing this a lot! I've got considerably better now.

Had mine this morning at Downsview and passed. Thanks to everyone for contributing on this thread, as it really did help.

I even taped the painters tape to my helmet, which the examiner commented on in a good way.

Now, lets look at an upgrade :p

Congratulations. I also did mine this morning at Aurora and passed.

For those who are taking it soon, read the thread and take a look at the marking checklist that was posted on here. Like what Stveo said, they were very useful.

Congratulations! Did the blue car follow you?

I did my M test in Brampton, it was pretty easy, only took about 30 minutes. It was the exact same route that ORRange600 posted in the video. The only issue I had was that big old radio ear piece they gave me, I had to squeeze it into my full face helmet and it hurts! Good luck!

Do head checks. I know you know this, but you will lose points because you don't do it enough. I knew and thought I was doing it every 5 seconds, still lost 15 points for head checks. Thy are easy points to lose too, just pretend you are a bobble head!
