M test booked

I got dinged for merging onto the highway too slow. You should pin the throttle down to show them how fast you can do 10km/h to 100km/h!

(Not serious)

This is a very common error. Riders are so concerned about "speeding" that they're overly cautious. Your speed must match that of the hwy traffic BEFORE you move over. You shouldn't move into a big gap at 80 and continue to accelerate on the hwy (that's an error), and you definitely can't move in front of somebody that's going faster (conflict like that could easily qualify as a failure).

+1 They failed me for NOT going fast enough!! And I was going 95+/km but the traffic speed was a lot faster, they kept yelling over the intercom and I wasn't able to hear properly.. So I'm thinking ****, they're telling me to slow down.. well at the end they were telling me to go faster / go with the traffic flow. Next test I pretty much gunned it as soon as I saw the same traffic speed and I believe I was around 115 - 120 km/hr on that test. Congrats to OP!

You're lucky. They're only supposed to give directions like that if it's necessary to avoid a collision, and if examiner believes that was the case, and their intervention was required, it's a failure.
I'm not saying you should have failed, only that if the examiner had to intervene, it should have been a failure.
It may simply be that he realized afterward there was no need to intervene, he could have just marked the error.

To the O.P.- Congrats!!

Cheers
Phil

Congrats to the OP. Anyone that actually rides their bike should pass with flying colors. Just keep your head on a swivel. The worst thing about the test is the crappy ear piece. Just trying to focus on the instructions when I could hardly hear was frustrating.

I'm pretty sure they're more likely to fail you for going too fast vs going too slow.

Going 5 under (which I doubt if your riding at speed limit according to your speedometer), they'll probably tell you to speed up. Riding 10 over and your speedo is reading slower than actual speed, they'd probably insta-fail you.

^City streets

Ride with traffic on the highway.

+1. When i did my M test, i went the posted speed regardless if people were passing me or not. But on the highway i went with the traffic (was rush hour though...).
