Luckily the Dart only suffered minor(ish) damage.

My 'uncle' (family friend) had both a F-40 and a F-50. He let his brother-in-law take it out for a spin with him, it rained a little and he crashed it into a tree and killed him (the passenger).

The wreck will be bought for at least $300k and fixed back up.

Watch Fast n Loud, over a few episodes they buy and thankfully, pay a pro Ferrari shop to fix it right. Dont get me wrong i like the stuff they make but they are in no way or form qualified to fix a wrecked F40.
In that instance, Richard was just handing over cash...and lots of it!

Maybe the ferrari is made to disintegrate and absorb the shock and even though it's so old it's safety design might still be ahead of the dart.

Yeah ok. The Ferrari is an 87, which means it was on the drawing board around 84-85. That was 30 years ago. These cars, just like F1 cars back in the day weren't built with safety in mind. Thats why they disintegrate, and people like Senna, Villenueve and Ratzenburger all paid the ultimate price.

The F40, when arrived on US soil, gained approx 250lbs, because of all the added bulk US regs required to make it "safer".

If I were going to be involved in a crash today, I'd take a modern car anyday over any 30 year old exotic.

Yeh, like a Honda, right?

^ I would too, only because that would involve me getting to drive an F40 to begin with...

Well it's a tubular frame, I suppose they crash very differently than regular cars.

BTW
