Loving My New Honda CB500F

Cool bike. Reminds me of the dearly departed CB-1. :)

I would love to see more UJM find their way over here. Something along the line of the old Nighthawk 650 with modern suspension geometry, brakes, and EFI would be awesome.

I agree - very impressive line up - far more so than the 700 series which I think are wrong headed with the possible exception of the DCT version.

What is really a shame is that Honda is not bringing the CB400 to Canada.

I am really angling for one in Aus as it would be fun for me but legal and the correct size for my step daughter to learn on.
The 500 line up is very good - especially the X in my view.
Adding the CB400 in would be sooooo sweet.

It's only a bit more HP than the CB500 but I suspect hellishly more fun to ride if you are willing to keep those revs up. Shades of the RD400 two stroke.

I beg to differ on the 700 series but only based on raw emotion. Bear in mind if my opinions were any kind of barometer we'd be measuring air pressure with a thermometer. Can Honda afford to make another marketing blunder? How many bikes can they come up with that noone wants? I like everything about the 700 except DCT.

those EMS pants arent the safest thing to wear, I have a pair same thing, the crotch ripped. ya needa get some real riding pants.

I like the CB500r...but I am leaning towards the ninja 300 ..alittle cheaper in price, a little better looking and pretty much the same top end. I beleive the seat height is higher on the 500 which would suit me better.

If you haven't ridden one you may be in for an unpleasant surprise....my kid was going on about the rev limiter today....neither one of us liked the machine.

As for armor - some motocross knee guards are cheap and work as the hole in my light riding pants will attest to. The damage underneath stopped at the armor.

I'd question the foot wear tho - hiking boots a better choice - something with some ankle protection.

Done .. investment made :) retired the EMS pants ...

Anyone know the power rating for the stator/alternator on the CB500s, I need to know if it can handle Header gear.
When ever I'm adding electrical load I always swap out something to make up for the current. If running heated gear I swap out the 55/60 watt headlights for 35watt HID's, swap out all the running lights for LED's, swap the plate light for LED's, etc :)
