Definite possibility! But how does your snake tell you it's suspicious?Either that, or I have a snaking suspicion a lot of them likely do not even have current insurance.

Fair enough, I didn't consider the injury liability. Clearly there are some people who are able to "rent" or "lend" according to Craigslist or Kijiji, so maybe some people are able to facilitate that transaction, even if you can not. I do skim when people are just getting off being condescending on the internet. I didn't realise that was the point of being a part of a community, I naively assumed it was to actually help each other out and stuff.

If you're not covered under another auto policy (car or bike) - you may not have your own liability coverage.
Other than getting hurt yourself, liability would cover you for hurting someone else who may not have their auto policy or their injuries exceed that coverage. And for damages to other things, i.e. guard rails, light posts, etc. I think emergency services response may also be covered here.
So if you rent, I'd suggest thinking about your liability coverage, and what coverage the rental company provides. On the off chance something happens.
Umm....
OP I was just pointing out to you that it is illegal to rent a motorcycle unless you have valid commercial insurance. The only way to do this legally is to borrow a bike, therefore borrowing insurance.
SUV was borrowed by a friend to go to store, wrote off and my insurance policy was sued for the million dollar liability. So no, not worth the $100 "in gas", which is the only way to do it legally for most of us.
Not illegal to lend, it is to rent out.
Plus - oh sure I wanna help a random stranger on the Internet. What could possibly go wrong???
I've borrowed people's bikes, but they know me and how I ride. Never EVER borrowed a bike I couldn't pay for in full, immediately, should something happen.
Perhaps knowing that a motorcycle you are about to borrow or rent may have no insurance, or voided insurance would be considered helpful by some.
But people can be helpful and condescending at the same time.
Agreed, but this is GTAM, get used to it.
It's called tough love. If nobody ever rips you a new one you're just walking around with an old one.
