Looking to learn manual / buy, rent a beater??

$450, I wonder whats wrong with it? I can drive standard no problem and that seems too good to be true

There are three things wrong with it: It's located far away from Toronto, which makes it worth less; it needs a new windshield, as stated in the ad; and it's a J-body, so it's rusting it up somewhere, probably bad. Frankly $450 isn't much of a bargain.

Oh and what shoes you wear also plays a part in smoothness. I now only wear my pumas when I drive as they have a thin sole so I can feel the peddals better.

Women should always wear red heels while driving stick. Nothing hotter than that

Yea getting the heal caught under the pedals is so hot. lol No thanks. Rather focus on the road and not getting the heal unstuck or ruined from the floor mat.

Plus when I park I have to swap shoes which is hot;) Especially if I'm wearing a skirt.

Its possible in the movies, so it has to be true

I would think it'd be easier as the clutch got weaker and started slipping. Generally to start without gas you need to slip the clutch a little anyway.

Unless it's the opposite problem that I had which was the cable was starting to break so it would never fully release so as soon as you started releasing the pedal it would engage and jerk/stall out if you sucked. Then it snapped completely on the 401. Made it down the rest of the highway (took maybe 20 minutes of driving at 50 as that's as fast as it would go in first), and the Allen, before I actually had to fully stop on Eglinton and it stalled out. Couldn't change gears. It was lame.
Probably the latter. A good clutch should bite right away (but the friction point might be higher or lower). So basically, if a car's quick to lunge forward when you're not smooth with the clutch, it's still in pretty good shape. By contrast, my car has ****** bike PLUS it's one of the softest clutches you'll ever feel PLUS the friction point is really far from the floor. The only thing that could make these conditions worse is me not having a leg lol

Your story's hilarious, though. I'd be tripping out if I saw a Porsche going 50 on the 401 and it wasn't an old geezer driving it :confused1:

I wasn't being smooth on the clutch because the cable was basically busted.

It was the SAAB that had the cable clutch break. My Porsche is 12 years older and has a hydraulic clutch. No wonder SAAB is failing. That car is kinda a POS and I keep debating whether to fix stuff up that breaks or just junk the thing. I was planning on making it into a winter (it's already the winter beater) and track car (no serious mods, just go for fun and abuse the crap out of it) but now the trans is seeping fluid so I don't think they'd let me on the track.
