Looking to Fish

I wish telescopic rods were more popular here. I find them to be very practical as they do not take up much space during transport.
I recently brought a couple back from Europe for the kids.
Funny enough, check out Amazon, loads of telescopic rods. I guess due to them being easier to ship.

Cool .didn't consider that

Having said that I prefer to test my rod in my hand before commiting to it.

I don't disagree. But so easy to return to Amazon and the prices are very reasonable. Not trying to say they are any good, just that "trying things out" before a purchase is slowly going the way of the DoDo.. o_O

When I decide to make a purchase I'll be hitting a few stores to gauge the product and more importantly the customer service. But heat might be spring of 2023 at the rate I go.. LOL

Sent you a PM ...I'll be back in November briefly and have a lifetime of gear not going to Australia with me.
Caught my first fish at 3 I'm told, on a bare hook. My Garcia open face reel is likely 50 years old at this point and works the charm.

My FIL was an avid fisherman, he LOVED it more than anything in the world. Probably more than his own kids.

Once he passed away, the MIL decided to send all of his gear...probably a few thousand in rods, equipment, reels, flys, etc. to his brother back home in Poland. The bastard sold it all for a few bucks.

I told her to keep it for me as a legacy and we can pass it on to our kids when the time came, but she wanted the last remaining brother to keep it...and that SOB sold it all within a few weeks. Still bitter about that one.

Another reason to give all your **** away before you die so it goes to people that you know want it, and will use it/cherish it/whatever

Agree 100%. Unfortunately in his case it was rather sudden.

Sunday
Him: we’ll good to see you as always. Last time we’ll spend time together
Me: bullcrap

I rode home

And then he died Monday afternoon. My wife’s scream still haunts me to this day when we got the call.

At least he died right after we had a good family day together.

same sort of thing with me. Wife's brother called New Years Eve and asked if she was there with me. I said 'ya, hang on' and handed her the phone. I thought I heard him yell something as I was handing it to her. She just said 'hi', listened for a sec, dropped the phone and ran upstairs. After the initial shock I picked up the phone and he told me her dad was sitting on the stairs having fun at their NYE party, laughing etc and then just fell over dead. He said he had yelled at me not to give her the phone, he wanted me to tell her. Took me a long time to answer the phone after that. Every call went to voice mail (actually, the answering machine back then)

Edit. to keep on topic, he had a lot of fishing gear too. Her brother still has it all. He doesnt fish.
