be patient, better to wait and buy the right bike, than to rush in and buy the wrong one and 6 months later be looking for another one
 
I owned a GSX-S750 previously and a 3rd gen SV now. I prefer the SV. Some thoughts in comparing the two:
  • GSX-S: heavier, more expensive to insure (was $1800/year for me), worse fuel economy, excellent gearbox, enjoyed it for short blasts on the highway, felt best between 90 and 130 km/h, lack of wind protection meant longer rides got tiring, didn't enjoy the bike much for around town riding / inner city commuting - prefer a lighter bike for that, really stable on the highway, good all-round bike but it just didn't really make sense for my situation (downtown, commuting to work, insurance $$$).
  • SV: lighter, cheap insurance ($600/year for me), great package for around town/shorter rides/inner city commute, like it best between 0 - 100 km/h, SVrider forum is a great resource, good platform for novice track bike, gearbox is excellent, motor excellent, budget suspension, stock seat is uncomfortable.

SV is a fun bike

Never ridden the VFR, but I suspect the MT is comfier with better ergos and much lighter

the yamaha triple is just an amazing engine, they sell a ton of them because they're awesome and for the same reason they put them on multiple platforms (mt 09, tracers, nikken etc)
 
I'd offer you a test ride on my FZ09 if you wanted to on a weekend. It seems to be exactly what the nonresponsive guy is selling you, except fully together and with an added 20k on the odo...
I went from an 05 SV650S to this one in 2019, definitely a big jump in amount of bike difference...
Insurance for me jumped more than I would've liked, but paying lots for enjoyable things on the road is just part of street riding in Ontario...

Pre 2007 Bandits are plentiful and cheap to buy and insure.

Good handling, easy to work on, rock solid engines and air/oil cooled.

Bought mine a few months ago, a 2005 Bandit 1200 for $2100 with 51km. Careful with some earlier models about 2002 as the factory rings were poor resulting in oil consumption. Dealers rebuilt them or free so have that checked.

Ya it's the same as yours, big jump in power for sure! Will see how much insurance changes but I don't mind paying a bit more for a more fun bike

I've owned a VFR, FZ1 and a MT09.

All three are great bikes you can't go wrong with any of them. They do have their plus/minus when doing side by side comparisons, so ultimately it comes down to what suits you best and what the primary function of the bike is going to be.
