Looking for a used bike as a new rider

I got off the phone today with State Farm, $35 / month for CBR125 which is $420 per year lol????

And I totally agree, scooters are awesome too!

Edit Post: Thank you Macs btw for the tip with State Farm!

I have no problem doing that but if you're going to remove posts, I think you should remove the one where he's telling a newbie not to get a cbr250 because it can't do 170kms on the highway. That's not a very appropriate thing to say to a new rider who's asking about bikes.

He's just arguing because he has a hate on for CBRs.

250's suck on the highway.. CBR250's just suck everywhere (in my opinion)..

Is the kitchen clean? What about the laundry? Has that been folded?

Says the man who rode a death trap for 2000 km. Maybe buddy messed with your gearing too and you lost some top end

I do fail to understand how Lisa becomes a homosexual for liking the CBR250... could you run me through that argument again?

That's his opinion, and he's entitled to it.

You should just upgrade to a busa and be done with it.

Nothing wrong with a 250 on the highway, maybe yours is broken or your still stuck in first gear

couldn't have said it better. It's not the bike to be doing 6-7 hours of highway, but for most people's use a 250 will be just fine on the highway.

I find it hard to believe someone could accidentally do 170.

But whatever... A 250 is a great beginner bike.

Try riding a 600 or 1000, a buddy of mine let it rip coming off the on-ramp to get to merge speed, looked down...194 in 4th gear

No probs, check out the Insurance section for more info.

So with that pricing in mind check out the Ninja/CBR 250...better starter bike than a 125 in my opinion

Thanks for all the advice guys.

I am looking closely at the older 2007-2008 CBR125s now, as I have decided not to take to the highways this season (I can not get on highways legally anyways until August, when I can hand in my RTI exit cert to DriveTest). I will practice with the CBR125 this season and then trade-in for something better next season when I'm more experienced. I am seeing some ads where they come safetied. If they come safetied then its one less step I need to worry about as a non-mechanic, am I correct?

I tried playing with TD insurance online and am getting a quote of $1,400 / year with no collision and 500 deductible comprehensive coverage. I suppose that is a reasonable quote for M1 license with no riding experience at age 27?

As to Iceman, I believe I have the proper gear as I went to RTI with DOT helmet, Five Gloves racing gloves, TCX low rise motorcycle boots, and a Teknics leather jacket, but with denim pants :P.

Hey man,

I've got a '08 red 125r with ~3500 kms I'm looking to sell for $1700. I also paid $780 for insurance last year (first year) from state farm. 25 years old. PM if you want to check it out/wanna just shoot the **** about spending your first year on a 125.
