Kijiji or auto trader and if your looking for a brand new ride find the manufacturer you like and then you can find a local dealer through there website.
 
Define "kid"..age etc

..generally the CRF are bullet proof

But first you need to figure out where it's going to be ridden....that's a whole other issue as is insurance for it :(
and I'm not talking about on road insurance but offroad.

I'd go to MotoPark in Chatsworth and talk to them and they have some bikes to rent and to sell
