Not sure if you are considering new bikes, but if you are concerned about avoiding the purchase on the last year of a current design (change to a new design in the year after you buy).
If so then consider, the VStrom 1000 has a major refresh/redesign for 2020. Suzuki tends to leave the VStrom designs alone for 3 or 4 years, and when they change a VStrom model they never change both the 1000 and the 650 in the same year. The VStrom 650 I believe is on it's third year for the current design, so there may be a major redesign in 2021.
